Biden/Schumer/Pelosi Accountability Thread

My stepfather, visiting this weekend from Florida, gave me this line today.

He also started a sentence today with “I see a lot of Black Lives Matter signs in your neighborhood, but” which was a fun walk to the farmers market

That may be the most white progressive millennial post ever.

It seems the new Fox News talking point today is the VP interview saying she hasn't been to Europe either and doesn't understand the point about visiting the border.

So, while I don't think it's a big deal, I don't understand how the VP and White House don't anticipate that question is going to be asked and have a pre-planned answer. It's like they haven't prepared for the interview before hand.

It's really easy to say, "I plan to visit the border in the near future, but I'm in constant contact with our administrations officials in DHS and border security and have regular updates on the progress there. We don't run our administration just for photo ops to satisfy the press and media talking points, and our goal is to address the root cause of immigration, which is why I'm visiting Central America and Mexico to meet with the leaders and discuss the broader problems of crime, poverty, and corruption in order to address why families start the dangerous journey north to begin with."

Something to that affect is much better than acting like you didn't realize a question about a border visit would come and laugh it off with some stupid saying about visiting Europe too. This has been a right wing news talking point for weeks. Seems like a self inflected error on the VP and White House.

Republicans are so predictable that it gets old seeing Democrats continue get punked by them.

Democrats just suck at politics. For as much as a shit show the Republican Party is at the moment with the Qanon crazies and Trump cult, they still understand the art and warfare of politics.

Constant missteps and not understanding the danger of the moment is going to cost democrats both the house and senate in 2022, which could directly lead to republicans refusing to certify Biden if he was to actually win again in 2024.

Something tells me you think the Dems should equal Pub rhetoric on border security?

No, I actually don’t think the border is a huge problem right now. I think illegal immigration is a problem that will never be fixed when you have hundreds of millions of people living in areas of crime and poverty. You’re going to have them come into the US for a better life. That isn’t going away whether you have a wall or not.

My complaint is an interview mistake, while small is just an unforced error that feeds back into the right wing media loop.

My issue about not meeting the danger of the moment was a broader statement on the demise of democracy which is occurring, where Washington democrats seem to not see with an urgency or strategy to address.

it was a dumb thing for Harris to say

She’s no Buttigieg.

Seriously, he’s one of the better Democrats for speaking, answering questions well.

Agreed. As horrible as the GOP is now, in terms of political organization and messaging and grassroots organizing and targeting various groups in election years they're in far better shape than the Democrats in most states, imo. They know exactly how to mobilize their base and peel enough independents (and recently, increase their vote among some minorities) to win elections at the state and local levels, while the Democratic organizations in many states are factionalized, incompetently led, and often clueless as to what is happening at the county and grassroots level in their states (like Florida in 2020 when local Democrats in Miami-Dade County frantically warned the state and national party of the defection of many Latinos to Trump, and were basically ignored.) The same thing happened in Texas. Unfortunately, Bill Clinton and Barack Obama were the exceptions and not the norm when it comes to modern Democratic politics.

Heard a summary of that big Dem report that made a good point. GOTV efforts aimed at Black and Latino voters who don’t usually vote brought out more conservative Black and Latino voters. Makes sense.

Lol I wish he was engaging in a class conscious critique of the million dollar row homes in a gentrifying area but he just wanted to talk about Blue Lives and complying with police.

where's your cannon gif?

doesn't the fact that the president's son was caught using racist language support the idea that america might be a racist country? what am i missing here?

Joe needs to immediately get his racist child out of his high level position within the administration, which he only got because nepotism. Whooooooops, sorry guys, I was thinking about the racist children in high level positions within the last racist guy's administration, which they only got because nepotism.

I understand it's all they got, but the Hunter obsession is pretty pathetic and obviously irrelevant.

Disappointing to see that Megyn Kelly is still a thing.

It's the regular trope on the right that you can't say a thing if you (or apparently an immediate family member??) are the thing. It's like wealthy people raising the issue of income inequality and that it's bad, or raising the prospect of increasing taxes on the wealthy. That's simply not allowed
