WF at VIRGINIA 7 pm FRIDAY, ESPN2

I think the answer for why CBS is on special teams is likely multi-faceted:
1. He's talented and makes an impact there
2. He seems to enjoy doing it
3. WF rotates its RBs heavily, so he does not risk exhaustion unlike a workhouse RB and the team can have one (or two) contribute elsewhere as needed

Now it'd suck to see him go down injured due to ST but I would hazard to guess that he's at about 5x the risk on most runs than he is as a gunner on punts.

I wonder if he is just on the 2nd string kick return d. And we were rotating everyone at that point in the game. I don't remember him on any kickoffs prior to tonight.

Good effort on both sides of the football. Our offense can score 30+ on most teams not named Clemson. Not sold on the defense yet but their pitch has been solid and their play even better. We might have something special this year, but there is a long way to go.

I don't expect much national recognition. We have won our first four games four of the past six years. We are 8-8 in October and 10-14 thereafter during that period. Need to finish what we start to gain recognition and respect.

You are not sold on our defense after we held UVA to three points in a half while missing two of our best defenders?

Most of VAs passing sucess were tough throws and catches against good coverage.

Per twitter the answer is never.

Unfortunately Louisville is tough but it would be simply marvelous for our third in a row to be them. That is one of the schools Clawson would run it up on.

Look at the stats and you would think UVA won. More total yards, way more passing yards, more first downs, slight win in time of possession.

Wake won the most important stat: score.

Wrong. Quit living in the statistical dark ages. Everybody knows that offensive efficiency is the most important stat and our offense sucks at that...

:D Sorry couldn't resist...

UVA only lost because their best run blocking RB is out. So, the OL HAD to hold repeatedly against several WF 2nd stringers.

If Fox had been able to play there may have some real damage inflicted on the UVa OL and QB. Good as we were last night, with Fox and Greer healthy we're even better.

The only thing I could question is why CBS, our starting RB, is a key guy on kickoff and punt coverage. Seems odd and a why do that?

Back in the 90's, our starting TE, John Henry Mills, also was a key guy on kickoff coverage. He was always the first one down the field.

Yes. Armstrong is a good QB and he was UVa's offense. A lesser QB could not have stood up to our D. The rest of their team? Not so hot. That RB that was out hurt didn't really do squat against UNC before he was hurt. I think the Wahoos had about 3 yards rushing in that game. Last night, most of their rushing yardage came on Armstrong scrambles when we had good shots at him in the backfield.

Aren't they all 3rd and 4th string, and have been ever since they narrowly avoided bankruptcy and had to jettison everyone who wasn't? Some of you guys cling to ESPN like a life raft. They suck. Period.
Edit: Not you, Fusion. You seem to get it.

Problem is, what else is there? They've got college sports pretty much tied up except for a few games. We really need a new, good, competitive sports network. That would also mean more money since two networks equal bidding wars.

Wake won the most important stat: score.

Total yards in the 4th quarter

UVA 166
Wake 37

UVA had 90 plus yards on that last bull shit drive.

We totally controlled that game. I don't think I've ever seen a game where the stats other than the score was more meaningless.

Hopefully Fox and Greer are back for Louisville. Tyler Williams was playing last night so that is good, really good depth at DT when Fox is back.

Folks have complained in the past about our poor special teams. To improve special team performance, you put the best athletes out there. CBS happens to be one of those. Special teams can win or lose a game.

I watched the replay.

How many holds did they miss against vas o-line?

In what universe were our 2 touchdowns reviewed and the Virginia touchdown where the ball clearly hit the ground wasn't?

Anybody still questioning how Nick Anderson makes us a better football team after he was right there breaking up the pass on that 4th down and then stuffing Armstrong on that 3rd down run? Potential 11 pts off the board during key moments when we established control the game.
