Official CFP Rankings Thread - #16 Deacs (#15 Pitt, #18 State, #20 Clemson)

But really, Wisconsin sucks.

Meh -- they did at the beginning of the year. They look decent now. D is elite.

I was surprised to see them ranked that high, but my point was that they deserve it more than Clemson does at this point.

I think the combined record of their opponents this year is something like 18-38 and ND has 7 of those wins. I could be wrong on the numbers, but ND is the only team with a winning record Of course, they haven't played Houston or SMU yet, so I expect this will change.
And ND ain't that good. Luck of the Irish. FSU had them whipped long ago. UNC could have beaten them. I say these things cuz that's what they say about Wake.

This is all great bulletin board material for Clawson. Herbstreits quotes and the fact that we are vegas underdogs at UNC this week. just keep winning boys, they can't ignore you forever.

Also, the committee did take notice slotting us ahead of ND, who by the way, only plays 4 road games this year.

And when hartman and the boys lay 36pts on Clemson its just a longer list of people eating crow.

Lots of Wake love from Chris Childers on ESPN Full Ride today.

Some dude (or lady) I've never heard of on some radio/streaming/podcast/TV show I've never heard of.

I listened some to the Dusty and Danny morning show on ESPNU radio and one of them was saying how Bama would be out if they lost to Georgia and the other was like "well, if it's close..." Fuck that, that game is an elimination game for Bama, assuming they don't already lose to Auburn. Someone said, well we should talk about Wake and they basically said, yeah they're gonna lose, I mean they're underdogs in Chapel Hill this week and have a tough schedule. Plus they haven't beaten anyone.

I am worried about the UNC game because it isn't a conference game. I hope that fact doesn't change our preparation or the attitudes of players heading in. I want to beat Carolina and State so badly.

After how we faded in Chapel Hill last year after being up 21 in the second half I think we will be focused to exorcise that demon. Like we did with Cuse and Louisville.

If we are going to drop a game let it be to the Tarholes. I would rather beat State, Clempsun and BC.

I can’t imagine any players/coaches are not fired up with the possibility of an undefeated season/CFP appearance. If so, they should be booted from the team.

If we beat State and Clemson but lose to BC we still win the Atlantic, so give me that win in Chapel Hill.
Plus, if we lose to UNC, bye-bye top 10 in the cfp rankings, whereas win our next 3 we can at least enjoy the ride up for a few more weeks.

Wake Forest is #9 in the CFP rankings. Highest ranking of all time. Who thought that would happen at the beginning of the season?

Facts remain the same for the Demon Deacons. They must win out and be the undefeated ACC champion at the end of the season to make the playoff.

Gary Barta to Conor O'Neill regarding Wake Forest..."But 8-0 - they're undefeated, so any time you go undefeated, I don't care what sport you're in or what conference your in or what level you're playing at, that's hard". In other words, win out and you're in. You earned it.

We should all start booking cancellable places to stay in Miami for the Orange Bowl

Clawson just mentioned on his radio show Galloway's "atrocious defense" comment as being short sighted.

Edit: Definitely bulletin boarded.

Yeah. Anybody who actually bothered to look at our defense would see how ridiculous that is. Tied for 10th in getting turnovers. Firmly mediocre in giving up yards and points despite one bad game.

For example, UNC is 4-0 when they score 35 and 0-4 when they don’t. Our defense only allowed 35 in regulation once against Army. That just happens to be all the talking heads know about our defense. And guess what? UNC gives up 6.9 more points a game than Wake.

Yes. If I'm the defense, I'm ready to run to Chapel Hell.

Yeah. If you're not fired up for this level of success, you really need to hand in your jersey. With a win the weekend, this becomes really amazing on a national interest level.
