My take on that play was Sam thought it was a free play. Looked like the D jumped in real time. Maybe not enough for it to be offsides, but I feel like Sam thought they were. He didn't even look to the other side of the field where he had 3 WRs lined up and instead threw a jump ball deep down the left side.

There were 2 big offsides that were not called. That was one of them, the second INT play was the other.
 
Even so, Sam could have just thrown it away or thrown it deeper. It was still a bad throw even if he thought it was a free play.

He ought to be distraught. He just shit the bed. Now his team can go back to being that "nice little program that is having a nice year."

Only positive I can come up with is that we no longer have to worry about our team making the playoff and then having our shit pushed in by Bama, Georgia or Ohio St. If we can give up 56 to Army and 58 to the Fuckholes, what would a real team do to us? Post 90?
 
Just a minor item in the 10 million things I hate about this game: Mack Brown wanders around on the sideline looking like a senior citizen looking for his pudding cup. We, rightfully, make fun of him the entire game. Yet, this senile old glad-hander has beat our genius coach two straight times! Williams College!
 
UNC scored 58, had 546 yards of offense.

Their best offensive played had 4 catches for 35 yards.

If you have told me Downs would have <50 yards receiving, I would not have understood how we could lose the game.
 
Offense has to take some of the blame. Sam has 2 ints and what 5 batted passes? We should have easily scored more points and we all know it.

Honestly. It may be a God-send we're not in that conversation. Playing Alabama on national TV with this defense? It could possibly have set every NCAA record ever held in a game. So, sometimes, things work out for the best.

Clawson needs to make some serious changes. People need to be fired after this. Fired on Monday preferably.
 
Pissed about the lost but never felt good about this game. Defense was always going to be an issue we just don’t have the dudes to shut down good offenses. Hopefully Louisville and FSU somehow win today. Would make sure a win basically wraps up the ACC championship game. I want to go to Charlotte!
 
Getting to 8-0 and ranked in the top 10 for one week may be the Clawson's and Wake's peak.

I will note that today was a non-conference game. That makes it only slightly less painful.
 
The loss to UNC was a non-conference game but can the Wake team actually rebound from this loss? It feels like to win the ACC this year, Wake will need some help with additional losses for NCSU and Clemson.
 
This has to be one of the worst run defense teams I have seen, easily one of the worst in Power 5.

Just to add a little pain back, we are beat to hell. We lost several defenders today and CBS. I am almost sure that CBS is done with something broken. AND we have to turn around and play the Wolfpack.

Of all the teams I hate losing to, UNC is 1 and NCSU is 1.5 and App 2.

With a healthy defense we looked like complete shit today, what does next week hold in store?
