This. That WV game gutted me in a way that is still raw. I was at a bar in Providence watching with some loser PC fan rooting for WV bc they were in the Big East at the time and it’s the closest I’ve ever come to getting into a physical altercation. That said, this genuinely sucks. There is a special pain that comes with being a Wake fan.

A huge part of my love of Wake basketball died that night. I mean I enjoyed the good teams that we had after that and I still went to games during the Buzz and Manning years, but it hasn't been the same since then. Before that night, I lived and died with Wake basketball. But I don't anymore. Instead I live and die with Wake football. Today was heart wrenching. But we still have a lot to play for. And Clawson is getting us to the level of expectation for football success that we used to have for basketball success.

I drove home six hours after the wvu game ended. It was the last game of the day. Friends used to meet up at a locale for the opening rounds. Nobody said shit. No “dude stay.” Or “man just leave I the morning.” They knew not to speak.
 
Worst I’ve ever felt from a wake game. Ever. Hope it’s the worst. Should be because I swore I’d never let it bother me again.
 
Gaines Adams (RIP) was worse than this, deep down we kinda knew this could happen especially after last year’s UNC game whereas Gaines Adams was a complete surprise and I’ve never felt a steeper 4th QTR momentum shift. Hopefully both losses are remembered similarly as blips on the ACC Championship radar.
 
Still a lot to accomplish this year, but I'm pretty excited about next season. Most of the offense is back and the D can't be worse. Plus, we get fuckstick UNC at home finally. Pretty sure the team and coaches will have that game circled on the calendar.
 
Desperately need more size on the D line. Need to find size like Fred Robbins, Boo Robinson, and Jeremy Thompson.
 
We've all been there:
Woke up this a.m., and takes me a few seconds of relative bliss to remember that, yeah, we really did choke another one away yesterday. Which gives you that queasy feel in the pit of your stomach, followed by several hours of general malaise. But you gradually start to rally: stay away from the college wrap-up shows, change the local news right before the top and bottom of the hour to avoid local sports, etc. By midday you've moved on to some NFL or random golf tournament, maybe take a nap or a walk, and before you know it you've got drink in hand and enjoying a nice sunset from the back deck. All is relatively good, save knowing that you'll have to deal with "that guy" first thing at work tomorrow (man, what happened? I thought for sure you guys had us!). Get thru him though and while still stinging it's survivable.
 
Pissed that Wake choked away a win over the holes on the day that I could have gained an hour of sleep and instead tossed and turned all night.

Didn't help that lewisville kept clem's son in the Atlantic hunt either. :mad:
 
The goat next to me at the game turns to me about halfway through the first quarter and, seriously, says "When did Wake Forest starting letting in African-Americans?" I dunno dude, last week? Maybe the week before? And we let these assclowns take our lunch money every single time it matters.

Yes to this except yesterday also had to be circled.
 
Exactly right. Wonder what it feels like to be 9-0, #7 in the poll. We were ahead 45-27 and headed in that direction. What an enormous letdown.

Really crappy way to lose to a mediocre UNC team. Their fans are shitbags. I really didn't think Wake was going to go undefeated and I know this one stings because of who and how it was lost. We would probably be having the same conversation at some point. The game that's important to me is the game next Saturday night. Need to find a way to beat the puppies. Lose that game and I will feel sicker than yesterday because while going undefeated would be nice, I don't think it was realistic with the way the defense has been playing. Just give me a trip to the ACC championship.........please.

Yes, I thought the same thing. Howell was the difference yesterday. Kid is a warrior. This hurts because it is personal. At the same time we beat State the UNC game is in the rear view. UNC may very well beat Pitt and State or lose to both. I don’t believe Howell can make it through the year playing as physically as he did yesterday. I hate UNC but this was not THE game. The next two are THE games.

I believe we bounce back I’m just worried about having enough bodies on D.
