Senior Day: 21 players honored inc. Tom,Roberson,CBS,Sciba

That was a great kick but the sample of one will not get him drafted. But yes that does speak to clawson’s confidence, thank you.

The Syracuse staff also respected Sciba's ability to hit from 50+. They accepted a 10 yard penalty that gave Wake 3rd down and (I think) 16 from the 45 rather than have Wake with 4th down at the 35 because they felt that was giving Wake 3 points. Of course, Wake picked up the first down, so ther was no field goal try.

Yes. Much better. He’s got great hands, good speed, and is excellent at getting open.

Yep. Roberson's game translates to the NFL. Unfortunately Dortch and Sage had too many decencies is their game. Especially Sage after his injury.

Shout-out to Dortch on the 53 roster this past Sunday. Hope he can hang around the league.

We knew that CBS was going to leave?

Expected Tom and Q. A bit surprised by CBS but I think like Q he’s in the 5th year of being with the program? Given prime of RB’s is like 25 now - can’t blame him for testing waters. Honestly - Sciba is biggest shock here but again- 4th year in the program- given how few kicker spots open up - he likely wants to get options open - could see him still coming back.

There was no hesitation sending Sciba out for a 49 yard attempt at Syracuse. He made it with plenty of distance to spare.

In a dome.

Sure didn't seem confident in using him last week in the 4th quarter.

Good grief, CBS isn't even remotely close to being an NFL prospect.

We are going to miss Tom and Roberson. And to an extent Sciba, but this offense really should be able to make use of any kicker who can make 30-35 yarders when we stall in the red zone. Like others said, we don't need someone who can boom 50+ yarders, but it would have been nice to give our record holding kicker a shot last week when we needed him.

Don’t disagree on CBS but can’t blame him if he wants to move on - kid has given a lot to this program.

CBS may have just decided its time for the next chapter of his life. He’s had a ton of wear and tear in his years here, to be sure.

I don't think Clawson was worried about him missing a 45-46 yard field goal; I think Clawson was worried about needing 7

Exactly- we needed a TD- I don’t disagree with the call and let’s be honest - still had a chance to win on next series regardless

Am I wrong on this, but doesn't being honored as a senior just mean that academically you're graduating this year, i.e. coming back next year to play would be as a graduate student?

Not specific to Wake, but generally speaking, I’m surprised more guys don’t leave instead of exercising their 5th (or 6th) year once they’ve gotten their degree and are not NFL prospects

I'm not. They love to play football and if they know that they aren't going to play at the next level, I'm sure that they want to take advantage of their last chance to play at the highest level.

hot take, but i think the ideal scenario would be CBS returning but attempting a switch to safety / rover for next season. obviously easier said than done, but chuck wade did it and we could certainly use the help.

A Masters goes a long way and you can basically get a free one by staying.

I don't know what the criteria are, but Ja'Sir and DJ Taylor were both honored last year, and obviously stuck around for this year. It's best to assume the guys being honored are gone, and be pleasantly surprised if they return.
