I blew up a mouse nest last weekend restacking firewood. This is probably my punishment for that.

Whatever bitches, I’m going to bring my two dogs down here and I bet you’d rather have a humane death or even catch and release from me than what they’ll do to you.

The 6yo has a 4 foot long blacksnake in her room right now that she caught this summer and refuses to let go so I guess it’s wintering with us this year. She’s tamed it up enough to where it just runs free through the house as often as it stays in its aquarium.

God damn mako

my latest fantasy is to open a neighborhood wine bar/cocktail spot

Mine is to quit my job and be a line cook at a pizza hut for 6 months.

I will forgive nearly anything in restaurant service except failure to keep my water full because salty fatty restaurant food makes me chug water. More often than not, it’s the high end places that fail to do this and on top of that they give you this dainty little shot glass that holds like 6oz of water. I shouldn’t be rationing myself like I’m in the Sahara. Just leave the pitcher you cheapskates.

Oh also when I ask for the check just bring it instead of making me awkwardly look around the room for 10 mins hoping you come back around or at least refill my water. Another high end service hallmark.

my latest fantasy is to open a neighborhood wine bar/cocktail spot

For about 7 years I've had this little idea/dream to open a place called "Bird Bar" that serves "bird friendly" coffee in the morning, and beer and scotch in the afternoon/evening (NO EXPENSIVE WINE BOTTLES!), but the real appeal is that I'd have to locate it in some birding hotspot, like Monte Verde Costa Rica, and then all the birders would come and share their sightings and we'd have white boards to post lists and share location info, plus we'd have bird feeders everywhere.

The domesticated wild snake, I look forward to the future post about how the snake went snake on the 6 yo.

Meh, blacksnakes are pretty docile unless they’re shedding. She’s smart enough to leave it in the aquarium when it’s eyes start clouding over.

With knowledge for the softball I’m lobbing you, my mom has always been crazy about snakes. She kept a hognose snake in her breast pocket while she was teaching elementary school for like 8 years, and we always had wild snakes growing up as pets, so my kids are used to handling them. The 3yo catches ring necks all the time, and the 6yo is even better than I am at handling them now. She’s been bitten a couple times, but she can differentiate what to pick up and what to leave alone and understands the bites are all in the game.

The shitzu/Pomeranian mix is still not a huge fan though.

This is good parenting.

Though...a bigger concern for a mostly harmless snake like a rat or a racer would be crossover disease transmission. Snakes do carry corona viruses, cryptosporidium, and other diseases that have cross over potential.

more good commentary on that music consolidation thread

honestly thanks for this - gonna work some of this into my section on mass music next semester

usually nowadays I get cocktails when going to nice dinners, or at least start with a cocktail and follow-up with a glass of wine. typically my wife doesn't want to drink red unless we're getting a very nice bottle at a nice restaurant. otherwise she'll stick to sparkling/white and/or cocktails.

Somebody else win this thing instead of Palma. He can’t keep getting away with this.
