he was a really high 3-star according to 247, he would have been the 5th best recruit in wake history in between aj marshall and shamar mccollum
 
High 3* for the rest of us is low 3* for Georgia fans.

Clawson just had a $35 Million Taj Mahal football facility announced, sits in a Taj Mahal office, lives in a town with 100 more restaurants than Blacksburg, can schedule three recruits in a day on alumni aircraft, and doesn't have to deal with rubes every day. Clawson needs a raise, but more importantly raises for his staff, cuz he's that type of man.

I trust Currie to take care of Clawson and staff after the season. Particularly Higgins. He's doing good work turning three stars into NFL material.
 
Paying your assistants well is becoming more and more important - The Athletic has really been hammering home that Clemson allocates $8M for their assistants while UNC is second in the ACC with only $5M going to assistants. That's a huge gap.
 
It's huge from a retention standpoint, but I doubt Venables' replacement will get paid what he makes.

It would be hilarious if Clawson stuck it to the Hokie yokels and hired Bud Foster out of retirement as DC.
 
Was just listening to ESPNU radio and Neuhesel (not looking up the spelling) was all about Clawson to VT. and was raving about how the ACC CG could be two coaches coaching their last games with Nard Dog going to MSU because Mel Tucker to LSU.

Tucker is good as gone to LSU and Franklin to USC. I think Dave would (and should) take Penn State job if offered but not MSU- always going to be 4th best team in that division. You could make argument that Wake is the 4th best job in our division. Always going to be behind Clemson, FSU, NC State from a pure resource standpoint. BC is maybe slightly better since they have more tradition but we have nicer facilities and better recruiting footprint but we might be better than Cuse and LVille at this moment in time now.

This is a very narrow view of the division. If FSU and State had such advantages over us, we’d see it on the field. Instead we’re the top 10 program and FSU is losing to Jacksonville State. Both fan bases are disappointed in their head coaches. Our facilities are awesome and only getting better. No matter how the situations are viewed, perception isn’t reality. The reality is we’ve entered a new era and our fan base needs to catch up and get on board.

What resources are you referring to? Everyone has stated on multiple occasions that the only place with better facilities, etc. than us is Clemson. Does the name carry more weight in recruiting? Maybe with coaches. Most of these schools haven't been good in these kids' lifetimes.

Maybe one day Georgia can be known as a program who overachieves with lower-rated players and not one that consistently underachieves with higher-rated players.

I think state is probably an objectively better job than Wake, but it doesn’t mean that it’s a better job for Clawson.

I think they have higher expectations and more fans, but, to my knowledge, we have the same number of 10 win seasons in history (and should surpass them here), and they haven't even won a conference championship in 30 years.

If VT fans are this opposed to the idea of Clawson, I can’t wait to see how that would be viewed by PSU fans. I love Clawson and hope that he’s our coach for the rest of his career. But his first winning ACC season is in his 8th year. That is not going to be welcome news for the “big program” fanbases that expect a 1-2 year turnaround.
