Official 2021 College Football Thread: Grass Picker Named to CFP Selection Committee!

I would pay good money to watch Timothee Chalamet get sacked by an Alabama linebacker

Apparently Tom Holland was also considered for the role.

And there you have it. The ACC is trying to strongarm Notre Dame into joining the conference and the answer is "NO, LOL !" So this is the result. Meanwhile the ACC has a terrible TV contract that they can't modify.

Meanwhile, the PAC 12 just trying to protect the Rose Bowl (and corresponding parade) for some unknown reason while its football programs continue to suffer.

I've also heard some disagreement about whether it should be the five P5 champions plus the strongest G5 champion that get the auto bids or the champions of the six strongest conferences, which seems like it's the same thing.

No playoff expansion likely until after this contract expires after the 2025 season.

But really, it's a bunch of complaints from outgoing Clemson players that's holding up the expansion.

I hate the Rose Bowl. Mainly for being such dicks about not moving their game, and everyone falling all over themselves to give them what they want. Now, if Wake ever made it I would gladly go, but since that will likely not happen: fuck 'em.

We had them by the balls last year and just rolled over. I think we should shake hands and part ways in all sports.

Expansion with champs would be the way to strong arm ND. They’ve already made the current CFP. They aren’t worried about not making it because they’re not in the ACC.

Jack Swarbrick is on the expansion working group and the CFP Management Committee and he's not going to agree to anything that hurts ND.

Also, Rev. John Jenkins – President, Notre Dame is on the CFP Board of Managers.

The resistance to change is about money. If the existing system is ended before the end of the current contract with ESPN, they would be owed something. Maybe exclusive rights to all games in a new playoff. Some people would like to see a bidding war between ESPN, Foxsports and maybe Bally for the rights. That won't happen if the current contract with ESPN doesn't run its course.
