Which ogboards.com poster is kicking in the multi-million dollar gift to kickstart the fundraising?
Racer is in for $50 bucks
Those renderings for that and their football stadium are hilarious because they always have these giant boats depicted on Waco’s piece of shit little river
I actually like the Joel despite any inherent bias. At least it’s original. Went to UNC, Duke and State games within the last two years when Wake played there and those stadiums aren’t exactly stellar (Duke’s is not impressive to me at all and State’s is as generic as they come). Went to @ UVA when we beat them this year and that’s the most impressive stadium I’ve been in for an ACC game. Also do a good amount of work with Wofford and they have a killer stadium. If we can model after either venue, all Deac fans would be happy, IMHO.
Think we can do some renovations and make the Joel feel ‘new’ without tearing it down. What would be ideal is if we could somehow redirect University Parkway north of Deacon Blvd. and tear down that shitty hotel and car dealership and make an awesome walking path to the Joel and Groves…I recognize this is not realistic.
Wait. Now everyone is on the same page that the Joel sucks?
There's a big difference saying this in year 33 of the Joel than before it was even 10 years old.
Why build capacity for 3-4 games a year? Even when we've been great and our attendance numbers would support that many seats, there have been a large number of opposing fans in the stadium. The heavily inflated attendance numbers barely have us averaging that many in good years. Also, 8,500 seats is too small. We're a P5 school, for crying out loud. I'd aim for 10K-12K seats.
Let the city build itself a proper monster truck venue.I’m not saying it’s not the right idea, but contracting the size of the Wake Forest’s basketball arena would just cement Winston-Salem’s status as a backwater town. W-S would go from having maybe the 5th largest indoor arena in NC to like 20th.
