Utah and Colorado Skiing

Seems like the majority of the snow missed PC, which is unfortunate. I’m heading out there in a week. We may try some nearby mountains, but most of us are on Epic passes which obviously limits us if just using it.

Snow in Tahoe was rough but passable. I also won enough playing blackjack that I covered the entire trip plus some. Which never fucking happens. So vibes

Vail/Epic is the evil empire ruining the whole thing. But damn those passes are a good deal.

Anyone have any Deer Valley/Park City restaurant recs that don't need or wouldn't be a hard reservation? We waited too long and literally everywhere appears to be booked. High West and No Name are always good, but will be challenging (potentially impossible) to get 6 people into, particularly on Saturday/Sunday.

I’m hearing they got so much show in Colorado that flights out got cancelled.

Are you SnowDeac on the weather forum?

Grappa, doesnt hurt to stop by during the day to see if they have had cancellations. I really enjoyed Red Banjo pizza.

Not Utah or CO, but is Cataloochie worth the trip from Asheville? Thinking of getting a half day there this weekend.

Yeah. I mean, it’s super small and could be decently crowded on a weekend, but it’s fine if you’re getting your ski legs under you. The weather leading into the the weekend isn’t great, so check the cams or twitter, but good learning slopes.

it's the only place I do day trips to from AVL tbh.. and yeah I'd just go half day and get there early if I were you

yah good call on weather.. warmer + rain could mean iffy conditions

Taking a work trip up to Spokane. Gonna do some night skiing out at Mount Spokane. Any of you hay seeds ever been?

Just finishing up skiing at Breckinridge and Vail. Warm days, decent snow. High of 47 today.

It was alright. Definitely end of season with some brown in places but almost all trails were still open. It was about 35 overnight beforehand and got up to about 50 before I left around 1. I’m kind of a lousy skier anyway but the slushiness worked out alright. Needed to get back out there after not having skied since Covid.

I’ve ski’d there a billion times. It’s worth a trip but nothing special. Basically if you’re already close then it’s a good option.

We stayed in blowing rock for the long weekend. Took the kid to App Ski Mountain for some more runs this winter (he did his first skiing out in Montana in January and loved it). Super slushy Sunday afternoon and super icy Monday morning, but he had a great time. No lift lines to speak of so the 30 second runs didn’t bother us too much.

Yeah if I wasn’t already in Asheville but was looking for a ski weekend in NC I’d probably do Sugar first.

Yep - was the same at Deer Valley. Saturday was great after a foot of snow or so over the prior few days. Sunday was good as well. Monday and yesterday you had to follow the sun and ski the soft slush. Definitely spring skiing. We had an awesome VRBO literally 100 feet from the Silver Lake Express and had a blast. Looks like a snowier pattern for the west starting later this week. Might try to hit Winter Park in CO or Big Sky before the season ends.

I saw that it's raining at Big Sky this week. woof
