Hypothetical Seed Discussion (#8/#9 vs. #10 seed) (NWT)

10 is better than 8/9

This team has a very big upside, and I’m not afraid of anyone. Rangy defensive teams like LSU and Baylor give us a problem as do teams that can attack off the dribble as we have some small guards.

But we have nice big guys that are playing well, and our guys shoot the ball. We attack you from every position.

I think we could win 9 straight games from here. I really do. This team also has chemistry.

We may just win it all !

Walton being able to consistently hit threes lately adds another dimension to Wake's offense. Teams will have to respect him as a shooter when he gets the ball at the top of the key. Not many 7 footers you can say that about.

I don't like some of the mock fields I'm seeing. Handle your business, Deacs. ACC Semifinalists with 23+ wins are tournament teams. Let's do that.

Take care of business with BC.

Get Hildreth 3 or 4 minutes and Marsh a few to keep guys fresh for Miami.

Key is we generate our own energy since the building will be empty until Friday or Saturday.

Yeah we've had some guys shot the ball well from 3 the last two games. It would be great to see that carry over.

We may not even be in. Jerry Palm has us in his first 4 out! WTF?

the good news is that Jerry Palm is horrible at projecting the field

not a perfect matchup since I copied two different sections of the table but you can see it more cleanly here:

Jerry Palm is terrible. He doesn't do any research or have any special knowledge. He is also awful with bowl predictions. I'm not concerned with what he says.

I'm not concerned with Jerry Palm. However the Bracket Matrix consensus currently has the following teams just above (directly above) Dayton:

Miami
Wake Forest
Notre Dame

Yes. I think that if we don't win today, then we will be in the First Four play-in. But a win today gets us into the tournament.

This seems about right, but if you're slated for the First Four that also means unpredictable conference tourney results and boot you out completely. The real problem is a win holds almost no positive value - then again I'm completely on the 10 (or even the 11) is better than an 8 or 9 plan, so that might not be all bad. In a year where there are maybe 6 teams that are legitimately really good, then a giant mess of pretty good all the way to the bubble, I just want to see us avoid the 1's the first weekend and not be in the play-in. Lunardi's 10 has us against Colorado State then Wisconsin? Yes, please. Just give us a shot at getting out of the first weekend without meeting a Gonzaga/Baylor/Kansas...

You know, we could be a #2 seed in the NIT, which is pretty good.

maybe on your second sentence. If we lose to Miami and ND wins, it's hard to see us rated above those other two teams. Then we are at the mercy of the projected Dayton teams getting a win (such as Rutgers over Iowa) and pushing us down to Dayton.

Louisville/uva today - we need a blowout to get UL out of quad 3 or UVA up to quad 1

Thinking UVA is the better bet since we can’t have both

Jerry Palm is just irritating since he's the CBS bracket guy. Looking across all brackets, Wake's been trending to 11/12, we may be a 12 in 30% of the brackets in the matrix, FWIW.

Hopefully we are not going to test the committee and just start taking care of business.

palm is an acc hater always has been back to his days at collegerpi.com. purdue guy

wake just needs to win - obviously. what sucks is they will lose net points beating clemson. and also lose points regardless of who wins cuse/fsu and vt/clemson. as mentioned above would gain points with louisville win.
at least based on my calculations which i'd like to think i did correctly.

We need to win if just to avoid a terrible loss. A win doesn't help; a loss is a disaster. Winning tomorrow would help. Once we win Fri and Sat we'll be a 6 seed.

This guy gets it.
