Consolidated Bracketology Thread 3/12/23 updates

We got what we deserved and we should approach the NIT pissed off and with a sense of urgency.

Playing like shit in the postseason needs to end and the next game is as good of a time to end it as any.

I for one am pumped for another weekend filled with Putters, joel shenanigans and watching our baseball squad at the Couch.

Let's hang our second NIT banner!

Yeah, honestly, it sucks so bad. But at least we don't have to sweat out any more bubble games, we can enjoy the stuff you just mentioned, and we are ahead of schedule in Forbes' rebuild, IMO. I'm as bummed as everyone else, and had to text Mako earlier for some comfort, but it's time we accept our *destiny* and enjoy what Forbes is doing. Would be awesome to hang an NIT banner, but it's going to be a challenge. Will be a lot of solid teams.

Here's to a good portal season!

Can anyone compile a single list of games that went against our bubble chances the last few days? This shit is unreal.

Hopefully, Forbes and the remaining players will learn this hard lesson, that while the ACCT isn't the most important thing, it's still important.

Opening round versus Winthrop, winner takes on Richmond or UNCW.

Will be interesting to see if this makes Mucius, Walton and Williamson WANT to come back, or GTFO and move on.

I'm normally an optimist, but if everyone from senior night does leave, LaRavia turns pro, and Forbes is not as successful in the transfer portal next year could be back to being bad.

I sort of agree, but without some incoming freshmen I am not psyched about next year. We have no idea what we will be. If we are in full on transfer mode, every year is basically a stand alone year and getting to the NIT is not some sort of stepping stone. It is just a failure.

I'll start:

BC: 82
Wake: 77

But yes....it seems each game I've paid attention to for bubble purposes since has gone the wrong way.

I predict Williamson will be back. Just based on the fact that he followed Forbes and the Staff to Wake.

My biggest concern now is recruiting - we have so many guys graduating and not many coming in... so we'll be hitting the portal again hard apparently?

We could be better next year. We have some good pieces who didn't play much this year in Cam, Monsanto and Marsh. McCray shows promise too.

I think LaRavia will be back, as well as at least 1 super senior. Forbes will get some get players in the portal.

I agree, but with how Forbes pulled this group of randos together, I'm confident that he'll get better and better at it as time passes.

Wake (coaches, players, administrators, boosters) has to learn how to be relevant and handle games that matter again. Hopefully lesson learned and we will be better prepared next year.

Will Alondes opt out of the NIT or continue his march towards jersey retirement as advocated by some posters ?

Yes- need to value those opportunities. I hope Forbes can get some guys to come back to build off this year.

Some called me crazy but I suggested the same thing a few days ago. I wouldn’t be shocked at all if he sits out.

College basketball is turning into complete and total trash. We should not build a new arena. If we can find a way to just shrink the place we have that should be good enough. This sport is going down the tubes. If Gonzaga wins the national championship this year, I think we will know that the sport has completely deteriorated.

I would be shocked. Alondes is a fringe second round pick, not like he's going to play his way out of the lottery. Playing basketball is fun. If WF wins three (probably all at home) games, they can have another pre-NIT Final 4 tomahawk steak dinner at Peter Lugar's; this time DR can give the motivational sermon citing how Phil Mickelson overcame countless barriers as a rich kid from the hard scrabble fairways of San Diego to earn millions and rub elbows with rich Saudis and the White Shark. Riveting.
