Official 2022 College Football Thread: Georgia is Back to Back Champions !!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!

ESPN Goal Line was great a few years ago, but now that you can watch pretty much any game on ESPN3/ESPN+ it isn't all that novel. As others have stated, it also tends to pretend bigger games on other channels just don't exist.

I think it is difficult for it to be enjoyable because there are so many games at once and they flip around to a number of games you could not care less about. There also isn't the fantasy angle.

Hard to say. I've been doing it a long time and have managed to hang in with a small profit. Have had plenty of agonizing loss streaks, which hurt more than the high received from winning streaks. Anyone that claims a consistent winning percentage above 60% is probably lying.

There are a lot easier ways to make money, but I enjoy it... usually. With the proliferation of betting options through legalized gambling, there are more opportunities to get decent sized middles, particularly on futures (like season win totals) which is one of the rare times where the bettor has the edge. For me, the best chance to make money betting individual games is still in college hoop focusing on a few smaller conferences (SoCon, Sun Belt, CAA) that's one of the few places where you can get an edge over the linemaker (particularly early in the season) if you do the research. Also, the grind of Sports Betting has given me a big edge when entering contests that include the public (have done well in NCAAT pools, PGA season pools, college and NFL pick em pools). That doesn't help the win %, but does help the bottom line.

This is often overlooked, I think. I couldn't agree more.

FWIW, love WV/Pitt Under 51.5 this weekend. Whipple has gone to Nebraska. Pickett to the Steelers and Addison to USC. Narduzzi is going back to the ground and pound with a slow tempo. WV is breaking in a new QB. Always can get burned by defensive/special team scores, but this one looks to be a slugfest.

I didn't realize ESPN Goal Line is still around. I hadn't seen it in years. I honestly thought they canceled it at least 5 years ago.

I do remember those problems with it. Only ESPN games, no marquee games, and a lot of G5 games. If done right, it would be like RedZone in the 4:00 set where they cover 4-6 SEC and ACC going on at the same time on ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, SECN, ACCN, and ESPN3/RSN.

Wrong. This is a Fun & Gun Game and JT and Kedon are going to light it up. #Slovis4Heisman

Penn St only being favored by 3.5 at Purdue is fishy. Seems like that should be much higher.

NC State has scheduled a future series with App.

App State is now favored against UNC at a few places. Not sure I'd touch that but the over at 56 is very tempting

A lot of people picking the Apps. Generally, when one team has already played its opener and the other has not, the team playing game 2 has the ATS edge. That said, a depleted Florida A&M team that initially voted to skip the game is probably closer to a scrimmage than a game.

There are a few teams in that spot this weekend including Illinois at Indiana, FSU at LSU, UNC at App, UTEP at OU; NM State at Minnesota.

From a matchup standpoint, would think App will be able to run all day on UNC. App returns an experienced OL, and have two great backs in Nate Noel (1,000 yards last year; 5.7 ypc) and Camerun Peoples (just under 1,000 yards 5.6 ypc).

The FSU/LSU game is intriguing... Not sure if I'll wager, but I definitely thought about the advantage of FSU already playing a game vs. the debut for LSU with a brand new coach.

That's interesting to me. I don't see App having much of a chance. UNC is more accustomed to bigger stages, they already had their warm-up game as noted, QB looks good, and the crowd will be filled with Carolina blue. The Heels didn't put ASU on their schedule so they could roll into Boone and lose. Hope I'm wrong.

UNC-CH went 6-7 last year with a quarterback who just made an NFL roster.

App has a much more loyal football fan base than Carolina. There will be Heels fans there of course but I doubt they'll even come close to taking over the stadium

Crowd won't be filled with UNC blue. App sells out their season tickets, and their stadium is small. A few UNC fans may find their way in, but the crowd will be close to 100% App. App already beat UNC in 2019 in Chapel Hill when they had Sam Howell. Now, Drake Maye is playing QB. Step down.

App definitely has a chance. Not taking the game, but an App win wouldn't even be a minor upset. FWIW, in a bizarre scheduling twist, UNC plays another road game against an Sun Belt team next week at GA State (just embarrassing for a Power V team to play consecutive Sun Belt roadies). Wouldn't be a shocker for GA State to win that one. GA State plays at S. Carolina this weekend, and that game may be tight too.

Uhh, you realize they lost at home to App in 2019, right?

If uNC were to start the season 1-2, would Brown's seat get hot?

I do believe there will be a strong contingency of Carolina fans, I don’t believe App will win, and I would gleefully be wrong. In ascending order of importance.
