First man to get a team of horses up Bear Mountain
It’s always interesting watching a scrabbling QB that is clearly being coached, ineffectively, to stay in the pocket.
From Clawson post-game:He did it for a whole season too.
Clawson will play the better QB. I just think we've seen Hartman play much worse than this and not get pulled. Maybe Clawson has that much confidence in Griffis. I don/t know.
He had a big leg, but I was watching him warm up pre game and he looked pretty inconsistent. Shout out to Matthew Dennis who remained solid for us, including the 46 yarder that tied it up at 23.We’re lucky libertys kicker missed both of those long field goals. He definitely had the leg.
Oh yeah I mean with that leg he’s where he is because of accuracy. I’m just saying it’s not like he shanked them. Just glad he was off the mark. And yes shout out to Dennis. Only matters if you get them between the uprights. He had a big leg, but I was watching him warm up pre game and he looked pretty inconsistent. Yea he had missed 2 already this season that were less than 40 so was surprised they went for more than 50 twice. He had a big leg, but I was watching him warm up pre game and he looked pretty inconsistent. One one hand I see your point about kickoffs and starting position. On the other hand I appreciate kickers who male their kicks through the goalposts. Not mutually exclusive but I will take points on the board. Was really impressed with Liberty's kickoff kicker. Would have offered him a full ride at halftime, if I were Clawson and he was willing to transfer. It is inexplicable to me that we cannot recruit a kicker that can regularly get the ball into at least the front of the endzone every time. The Liberty kicker kicked it out of the back of the end zone more times than our kicker kicked it past the 5-yard line. That really should be a priority. Kick it out the back and let them start from the 25 every time. Right now (including last year), our kickoff kicker is not getting it done. Needs to be addressed.
Who are you referring to?But Goddamn that fucking school and all who have profited from its malice
This has been a consistent weakness under Clawson. Our KO coverage is not the best to begin with…so a kicker that can consistently kick through the end zone would help a lot. We have a good soccer team. Can we not trot one of those guys out for KOs?Was really impressed with Liberty's kickoff kicker. Absolutely true. This was a preview of what the Clemson D will attempt to do to us…and they have a lot more talent. If our offense doesn’t show some creativity beyond the slow mesh it is going to be a long afternoon. We also have to be solid on special teams. Our performance has been average to poor on all special team units with the exception of FGs. You better believe Clemson will come after our punts…Liberty got one and Vandy was very close on a couple. It was disappointing this weakness was not addressed after the Vandy game.We were outgained, outcoached, outplayed by a team who wanted it more. And we won. That’s certainly a new level in our program.
That said, we have got to get some more creativity in the outside running or underneath passing game. Morin and Williams are too electric to just do 5 yard out patterns.
Defensively, I don’t think we played all that poorly aside from those two runs. DB fell down on one and a 0.5% TD catch on the other.
Both Ellison and Turner had 7 carries and averaged under 1 ypc. Cooley had 2 runs, one a four yard gainer and the other a 15 ish yarder that was called back. He's looked like the substantially better runner all year and his HS stats are off the charts.I bet a healthy Cooley could run it effectively.
