WFU @ FSU – Saturday 10/1 – 3:30 ABC

Our oline played way better against Clemson and FSU than Liberty. College football is weird sometimes.

I get what you’re saying and many on this board downplayed the weight of this game. But going on the road to win this game was huge and if anyone heard clawson with Stan postgame he definitely believes it was.
I knew it was a big game, but I didn’t think it made or broke the culture of our program as some were saying. Freaking huge win though!

I really don’t understand how Johnny Wilson doesn’t dominate every game the way Megatron used to. Dude is HUGE and really skilled.

Well all games are important due to last week because the only team that can beat Clemson is playing them tonight and if they beat Clemson, they will be sitting in top 10 when wake plays them. to which that will be biggest game in Clawson era.

Megatron was that special.

Yeah, i don’t really get into this biggest game ever stuff, because each game builds to the next. Army is a big game, loss and we loss all momentum and after that it’s all ACC gamess and we can’t afford to lose any of them and still win the Atlantic. So, the next big game just leads to the next big game and so on. Huge freaking win today though!

I don't really think people understand that a whole conference championship game strategy could be based on "PI vs a specific WR" and also have him be one of the most dominant WR in NFL history. If only he had a mildly competent QB at any level, guy would be All World.

Just bonkers to me that they aren’t throwing jump balls up to Wilson the way we did to Sage in 2019.

I know it's not technically right, but I really don't think I will be happy with a state win. Can't fucking stand it if state is top 5 undefeated after we blew it last week and should be in that position.... Clemson can lose 2 more times even if beating state, right?
Also having a major struggle with this…

Personally, I don't give a fuck what Herb Kirkstreit thinks.

I think you missed the point. He’s one of two people commenting on this game. Such a comment would be a reflection of the level of beat down.

Yeah. One of the biggest missed opportunities in sports is that he only played with Reggie Ball and Matt Stafford and he retired at 30 years old. Imagine if he had made his way over to Green Bay or pulled a Randy Moss and joined Brady.

Before this week, the last time FSU was ranked during the season was Sept 17, 2017 over five years ago. They were #3 in the preseason poll. They lost to Bama. They lost to State. They beat Wake 26-19. Then lost to Miami to fall out of the polls.

I don't think people realize how far they are away from being a perennial Top 25 team against much less an ACC contender. The CFP is not even realistic.

To add to this point, here are FSU's recruiting rankings leading up to this demise with 5*/4* players in parentheses.

2014 - 3rd (3/13)
2015 - 3rd (5/10)
2016 - 2nd (1/18)
2017 - 5th (4/9)
2018 - 10th (1/14)
2019 - 17th (1/9)
2020 - 20th (0/8)
2021 - 27th (0/4)
2022 - 17th (0/8)

So recruiting has fallen off, but results on the field fell off before recruiting. I didn't realize it's been so long since they landed a 5*. Still they've been a top 25 team in recruiting while not being top 25 on the field.

Yeah he would have been amazing with a good QB and team early on. I watched some documentary or something on his NFL career.. can't remember what it was called. His body took a beating due to his size/strength... He just ripped apart his ankles and knees in his first two or three seasons. It's absolutely amazing he played until 30 after seeing what he had to do to get his body ready for a game.. it was kind of sad actually...
