NHL Thread

Anyone play fantasy hockey or want to give it a try this Fall? I'm declaring sign-ups for an OGBoards league officially open.

Edit: Numbers and doofus have confirmed their participation.

ESPN and TNT have released their National TV schedules.

The Canes get 8 nationally televised spots with ESPN (6 are ESPN+/Hulu):
11/4 vs. Buffalo (ESPN+/Hulu)
11/6 vs. Toronto (ESPN)
12/30 vs. Florida (ESPN+/Hulu)
1/10 vs. New Jersey (ESPN+/Hulu)
2/18 Stadium Series vs. Washington (ESPN)
3/18 @ Philadelphia (ESPN+/Hulu)
3/30 @ Detroit (ESPN+/Hulu)
4/6 @ Nashville (ESPN+/Hulu)

And three more on TNT:
2/1 @ Buffalo
3/1 @ Vegas
3/5 vs. Tampa Bay

I think I was the last commissioner of OGBoards hockey, but I couldn't find the league anywhere. I'm sure it expired after however many years off. In any case, I'm in for this version.

I despise the idea of having to pay for local market games shown exclusively on ESPN+, but I'll probably pony up for a month for those last three games of the season and take advantage of the extra Masters coverage as well in early April.

I wonder if it’s possible to change thread names here if it transferred from the prior board, seeing as the 21-22 season’s over

Bump. The regular season opens October 7th (Preds-Sharks in Czechia), so ideally a draft would be late September/early October.

Czech government tells NHL that Russian players unwanted in Prague

PRAGUE -- NHL teams playing in the Czech capital next month have been told their Russian players are not welcome.

The Czech Foreign Ministry has told the NHL of its stance because of Russia's invasion of Ukraine. The ministry declined to say whether the NHL has replied.

The Nashville Predators and San Jose Sharks are to play regular-season games Oct. 7 and 8 at Prague's O2 Arena. The travel rosters have not been finalized, but Nashville has Russian forward Yakov Trenin and San Jose has forward Evgeny Svechnikov. Defenseman Nikolai Knyzhov won't be available for the Sharks due to a torn Achilles tendon.

Better than sending them to an internment camp I guess

Apparently Cam Talbot will be sporting this mask in Ottawa:

Okay, we’ve got six (DeaconPeach and partner are in). A tad small but it’s all boards people. Thinking 8:30pm draft Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday - do you have a preference?

Also, shoot me your email when you get a chance!

Happy to invite others, so long as you join in pairs.

I'll add you to the waitlist for 2023! I'm so rusty with fantasy sports in general, but I'm now remembering I don't love ESPN (it's fine). We may migrate services at that time, too.

Season openers for the Canes and Caps tonight - let's go!

Seems like we're getting more national respek this year than in other years, not entirely sure why, maybe all the natty TV games in the poffs against Boston (and beating them?) and the Rangers?

Hopefully another smooth stroll to the playoffs, looking forward to watching Burns

Different year, but I'm delighted to report that the Maple Leafs are on their same shit

The Montreal crowd was electric for that contest. MSL is a natural leader, and I hope he continues to punch above his weight in his first full season as coach (despite the dire prognosticators). My Caps travel to Toronto tonight for a back-to-back for both squads - someone's starting the campaign with two losses.

Will McDavid tally 150 points this season? Dude is absolutely insane. Draisaitl had a very nice evening, too.

Last year's Canes' enigma Marty Necas with a 3 point game in the opener win v. Columbus. Great start.

If that guy can harness all his talent this year and give us a legitimate 2nd line threat along with KK and Turbo, I like the Canes chances to make some noise.
