The running game has disappeared. The Liberty game was a sign. The staff needs to figure that out.

Turner was the leading rusher with 8 car for 29 yards. Ellison had 10 carries for -1 yards. His long was 5. So that’s 9 carries for -6 yards.

I don't think a strong passing attack has to have a good running game, but it needs to be respectable.

Yep. 17 yards rushing! :(

We better suck our shit up and beat UNC next week. We can beat their ass, but we’ve got to get back to playing our brand of football. Smart, no turnovers, opportunistic on defense and lighting up the scoreboard. Plus there is no team we owe more than UNC.
State's defense is a whole other level than UNC. We should be able to score

We’ve got to develop more to our run game than this RPO stuff. Our first touchdown we lined up in the pistol and opened up a nice hole and scored, but we hardly ever do anything different with our run game.

I’m sure someone on here has done some analysis of drive results based on RB. Would be curious to see

Agree with some earlier posts that part of the problem regarding the running game is that Hartman is no longer a threat to run out of the RPO. 1/3 of the plays’s designed options are no longer there.

I know the staff is probably (reasonably so) concerned about the younger RBs pass blocking, but I think we need to give them a shot and just go all-in on finding something that works

Turner is a known entity at this point

Ellison has somehow regressed this year, last year I thought he was one of our best/most consistent guys but he's lost a step, not sure what's up with him

Cooley has looked the best actually running the ball

At the very least give us a Turner/Cooley rotation, I loved Ellison last year but he's just not there right now

Yeah. That part of the game was lethal with Wolford, Hinton, Newman, and Hartman before this year. Now it's gone.

Why would anyone expect adjustments from the coaching staff? Just because the dumb mesh doesn’t work as soon as we play a defense with a pulse doesn’t mean we should try to do anything differently.

Easier said than done, but we need an MJ Morris type QB for our system to be its best.

What troubles me is how we went from the greatest offensive show on earth with AT, Banks, Greene and Williams and Hartman feeding all of them to now a very pedestrian offense.

How did this happen in THREE short weeks!?!?!?

Our offensive line isn’t good enough for the slow mesh against really good defensive fronts. When State didn’t blitz, they couldn’t cover us.

I was hopeful when we used that screen pass to Ellison in the 1st quarter but we never tried anything like it again

first two throws were short and quick, almost like we learned something from last week

that was it though

on the punt that was placed at the 1, notwithstanding that it should have been a touchback, why was it placed at the 1 and not the 6 or whatever?

Because it was downed at the 1. He didn't bat it back to the 6. He caught it and established possession. It was the right call and it didn't matter anyway.
