MBB Game Game 10: LSU Tigers in Atlanta - 2pm Saturday ESPNU

Sure. But like I said, he has had time to build and hasn’t.

And other than Appleby, who is a legit top-tier player on this team?
Now or projected?

Appleby is a top-tier player. I think Zach and Bobi both project as top-tier players.

Matthew, Cam, and Damari are at various stages of their development, but probably tap out a step below as ceilings. Daivien is who he is, which is solid.

I haven't seen enough from Jao, Davion, or Lucas, but they certainly haven't done much to stand out imo.

This isn't my preferred way of building rosters, fwiw.

ETA: Andrew is probably in that tier 2 category, for me. I forgot about him. I'm sorry to pile on, but if you still think he's more fundamentally sound than Jake LaRavia, then I don't know what to tell you.

No Steve, when you‘re up 20 and lose that lead in what 8 minutes of game clock, it’s more than they hit shots, we didn’t??? Failure to understand that will lead to your failure at this level.

Honestly, other than body type and size, what are people seeing from Bobi that keeps the hope so high? He’s looked close to awful all season.

I also found that comment a little concerning. Not "paint touches" worthy but a little concerning. There was much more to this game than them just hitting more shots.

Yeah, this isn’t golf where you have no control over the “shots” your opponent hits. In golf if your opponent goes unconscious and starts stiffing everything and putting out of their mind, that’s a real excuse. In basketball there’s a thing called defense and adjustments to slow your opponent down from hitting shots.

Though there are pervasive issues with certain players not playing hard all the time and making poor fundamental basketball plays, Coach isn’t wrong on the making shots front. They had a guy shoot 7-9 and we didn’t make a single three in the second half.

Yeah and last game Clemson made shots and we didn’t, so how long are we to accept that excuse? Maybe guard the guy a little better before he gets to 7-9, how many of those 7 came with a guy right in his face where he wasn’t allowed to square up. Lame excuse at this point.

We took some bad shots early in the shot clock. Cams late air ball comes to mind

When a 6-10 player is absolutely dominating your team, and you can’t guard him, you should try to make him play defense by going right at him

Reminds me of the guy who has been divorced FIVE times and claims all women are bitches and impossible to live with. Hmmm. May be time to look in the mirror.

I can’t see the exact quote on Tapatalk but they scored more points (hit more shots) isn’t an excuse for any sport with defense. LSU didn’t have a particular good shooting night. 43.8/38.5/40. You gotta beat a team that shoots 6-15 from the line.

He's an incredibly fluid athlete for his size and when he turns off his brain and just plays, he does some really interesting things for his size. He's actually a lot like Zach in that way. Once those guys' games catch up to their abilities (and they learn how to let the game come to them more), then I think we've got two special players.

If Carr and Williamson give us something today we win. If we box out on free throws we win. If we play our usual defense we win. Very disappointing but Appleby is fun to watch

Just don’t think the freshmen are quite ready to help a team trying to make a postseason tournament.

Two unfortunate instances of not being able to rebound a missed FT. Those hurt in these types of close games. Team is young - pulling for them - it’s a good group. Think they can bring it together.

yep

I agree (and said above) this team has potential to become good. We’ll see if they do.

Last year Alondes had Jake as his wingman.

This year Ty Applebee does not have Carr as a wingman, or anyone else.

Daivien being 60% healthy and Ituka apparently unable to play, is a DAGGER.

I’m not going to get down on Forbes because I do think he is a really good coach, but…Keller and Klintman on the court for that long stretch in the 2nd half while Marsh rode the bench is terrible coaching. Keller and Klintman are not ready yet.

Also, his lack of timeouts and general feel for the game and momentum changes is severely lacking. This one is on him. Feel bad for Ty and Marsh. They played great games. Cam had flashes. Everyone else was just all around bad.
Carr was in foul trouble plus Marsh cannot play 40 minutes.

I am not down on Forbes. He is the best thing to happen to Wake hoops in the last 15 years. The only thing I would ask of him would be that the next time we are in a late game situation and need a basket to tie or win(as was the case in 2 of our losses) PUT THE BALL IN APPLEBY'S HANDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We need to be reminded LSU was a team built from scratch. They had zero scholarship players last spring.

And first call a timeout to go over the play.
