Speaking of saunas. I may have shared this story before but when I was interviewing for firms during law school, I got invited by a senior partner for post work drinks. We went to the Harvard Club and he was like "after work I meet up with a bunch of the guys in the sauna and then we get drinks" so that's what we ended up doing and I gotta tell you that these guys were just naked as the day they were born hanging out in the sauna before we got drinks. I was the youngest person there by a solid 40 years.

I didn't really think anything of it at the time (privilege I guess!) but told my now wife and our roommate at the time about it and they were both appalled and believed it was inappropriate. I now believe this to be the case.

i seem to have touched a nerve

i just hope all of my CT bros are maintaining equitable household divisions of labor, that's all
I had a similar thought when reading through as well.

MDMH with the LORD'S work of getting up in the night.

I didn't put that into my schedule, but with a 4 month old who is a MEH sleeper at this point, we're both up twice in the night getting her settled. Usually I take over when she's done the feeding but the kiddo is just not ready to go back to sleep.

Dear Sir/Madam:

Happy New Year. I hope that you are doing well. I see that you have ignored my prior email attempting to get your attention so that you may potentially consider me for a position at your organization. Not to worry, though, as I am still unemployed, I have decided to reach out again in hopes this time you may perhaps feel guilty enough to respond on this occasion.

Thank you for your consideration, I look forward to hearing back from you, maybe.

Kindest Regards,
Timmy

My wife does much more to make sure our daughter is well adjusted and happy. She takes her to preschool, picks her up, handles most appointments, spends the most time with her(because she has the free time), makes sure her teeth are brushed and she's bathed, etc...

I do everything else to make life happen and it works out.

Met a guy at a neighborhood party that is finishing his basement. He's Russian. They put in a full sauna (10' x 8') and my wife is mad at me that we didn't consider doing that in ours when we finished it last summer.

I'm kind of considering putting a small one in if I come into some money (I won't).

On the yahoo news yesterday there was a story about some reality TV Star that got shamed for posting a pic of her backyard sauna taking up all the yard so her kids didn’t have room to play

I haven't been to the sauna in a while. I did go to a Turkish bath house when I was in Istanbul and they really work the kinks out. I felt like Gumby while these dudes are just cracking spots in my back I didn't even know existed.

I feel super close to getting a new job that I think would be a really good fit for me.

Had an interview at 11am yesterday that I thought went pretty well and haven't heard anything yet. It was the 4th person I interviewed with (keep moving up the ladder of importance).

I sent a couple of follow-up e-mails yesterday afternoon (thanking the one guy and updating another lady who would be my boss)... Crickets.

So my enthusiasm has now been coupled with a nagging feeling that my 11am interview yesterday didn't go as well as I thought.

All of this makes doing my current work a real struggle. I really just want to be able to say "F this, I'm leaving!" but it is clearly way too early for that.

Addendum: I didn't get the job, so they must not have liked what they saw.

How many interviews for a position do y'all find is too many interviews? I have a buddy who was transitioning from a bartender position to a 9-5 type position with a large distributor in the state and it was a six interview process.

I mean....six interviews? What else are we even talking about by that point. I just wanna work for the company, I don't want to marry into the family.

Every jobs I’ve ever had has been a 5:30-6 leaving time. The thing that struck me was how many of ya are like done by 4:30 it seems. What jobs are these ?

yeah i was more referring to folks who are like leaving the entire pre-school and post-school child maintenance to their spouses, but hey it's not my life

(if you're gonna mako your way to the gym at like 4:30am that's a different story)

ymmv, as we often say on here

love all y'all unconditionally

Ive estimated I do at least 10 more hours than my wife weekly in household related tasks and childcare... to preserve equitable division of labor I make sure to half ass it at work most of the the day and she isn't allowed to be criticize me for anything

lol I get daddy duty until 3-4am, then I wake up at 7:15 and my wife has been up since 6 and basically hasn’t gotten any sleep since 4. I could never survive on the amount of sleep my wife gets. She lets me sleep in at least one day a weekend until 9:30 or so because I can only go 4-5 days without 8 hours until I become a raging asshole.

We interview a candidate twice at my insurance place. One with me as the hiring manager, and then if I like them then they will meet with the big boss and HR. Then we make a decision from there.

6 interviews is just extremely excessive imo and reflects poorly on the hiring folks to evaluate talent properly.
