MBB Game 33: ACCT Quarterfinal - #1 Seed Miami - Thursday Nooner - ESPN

so bittersweet to see Daivien finally healthy and able to attack the basket fearlessly for the first time since November.

That game was the perfect encapsulation of this season. We overachieved, but frustratingly left so much on the table at the same time. The 7-14 from the free throw line, the open threes that Carr in particular would have knocked down if his hand was right. All to lose by two points one final time, in a valiant but ultimately doomed effort.

I am really proud of this team. They never, ever quit, which is something we haven’t been able to say very often over the last 13 years. Just constantly kept fighting, and gave us the best of every ounce of effort that they had to give. I remember saying during a run in the Georgia game back in November when we got a glimpse of that spirit that ultimately came to define this team that this group was going to make me fall in love with them. And they did—they played hard, night after night, even when the breaks started going against them. Well done, gentlemen. Can’t wait until we run it back in November.

And Tyree Appleby. The ultimate competitor, and one of the best teammates I have ever seen. Left his guts out there literally every night of the season. Constant enthusiasm. Can’t say enough about that young man.
Yeah this is it. We did the old 110% thing while missing a lot of pieces this year.

I think there's a reasonable argument to be made that we played better than the collection of our parts this year. We lost a lot of close games, but they were primarily to teams who are substantially higher than us in the metrics (App State and LSU aside).

We were 4-5 games over our KenPom pre-season projected win total, which probably needs some tweaking in this day and age of transfers and weighting of freshmen.

We lost 7 games by 2 points. Also won some close ones but if you go 50/50 on those across the board we prob have 2-3 more wins.

My take is that we lost an incredibly close game to a much better team. I'll take that after the season we had. There's no quit in a Steve Forbes squad, and we were really damn fortunate to have this year with Tyree Appleby, Deac legend.
#1 seed in the ACC Tournament hasn't lost in their first game since 1997.

We came so fucking close man

fuck that client call
and fuck those two phantom moving screen calls against us at the end of the 1st half. those missed points loomed very large there at the end of the game

It's easy to be disappointed, but tough to be mad. We gave it all we had and we lost to a better team by 2. Honestly, I also find that Miami team and even Larranaga likable. I've always liked Wong's game and demeanor. Jordan Miller was a class act in the postgame interview.

It's messed up that Jordan Miller wasn't on the ACC POY ballot. It's messed up that there is a ballot.

I love the idea of having a banner for ACC POY. Problem is you would have to then distinguish between AP and coaches. Listening to the game today, you would never have thought Appleby won AP ACC POY, only 2nd place behind Wong in the coaches. We'd still have a respectable list.

we should have a ACC POY banner or something so ManMan and Ty can be up there
Why did they keep saying Wong is the ACC POY? That was making my hair fall out. But, is that true? I was so confused.
