2023 Carolina Panthers thread - HOF Julius Peppers

1-year deal. That looks like it gives time for the 2nd round pick WR (and Marshall and Smith) to emerge.

I'd still like them to draft a second round WR, but I think having both Chark and Thielen gives them enough flexibility to pass on that if none of the guys they like are still available.

It would still be a bad WR room, but it wouldn't be horrific like things were looking after the trade but before the signings.

seen some speculation circling around that people caught McCown saying to Stroud something like "when you live in Charlotte we'll find a court to play HORSE."

but I'm assuming it's just talk and maybe they said something similar to Young.

I think it gives them the flexibility to draft a top TE or 2nd tier edge rusher in the 2nd and see who is left at WR in the late 3rd (maybe AT).

This is supposed to be a really deep TE class. Mayer, Washington, Kincaid and Musgrave all probably get picked in the first 2 rounds. So yeah, that could be the plan.

To be honest it will likely be BPA of the offensive skill positions at #39.

solid, improving, 5 man returning OLine, miles sanders, hayden hurst, thielen and chark at WR….

this rookie QB is stepping into a pretty decent situation. and the D should be really good!

man

it's been YEARS since we've been deep at WR... Thielen, Chark, TMJ, Shi Smith plus any draft picks is a solid WR room

I think the last time I was jealous of Carolina was when Cam took y'all to the SB. Been a while. Downs at 39 would be nice. There are some value WRs in the 3rd-5th rounds. I like Perry in the 3rd and Iosivis on day 3. I like what Fitterer is putting together without Rhule.

Edited to add y'all took Will Levis out to dinner last night after taking out Young the night before. This has to be Kentucky's best attended pro day ever - almost 100 coaches and execs there. Of course there's a lot more to figure out with Levis.

Young

I just saw a top 5 list of NFC QBs (assuming ARod trade goes through), and whoooooo boy. If Young/Stroud are good, they could legit be a top 3-5 NFC QB in year 2. This also makes me want to bet a signficant sum on "next year's super bowl winning team coming from the AFC" at -130.

1. Hurts
2. Cousins(!!)
3. Dak
4. Kyler
5. Geno (!!)

Damn. Yeah, right there is a reason to take a QB and hope for the best. There's a huge opening.

that's an interesting list. The NFC QB situation is really bad. I'd probably throw Derek Carr in that list somewhere. Just not sure i am a believer in Geno.
