2023 Masters Thread

Tiger had the ugliest WAG of the last twenty years.

Had to Google it and guess I'm the last person on the planet to learn that Koepke played in the ACC. Played at FSU. I had always assumed he played at Texas for some reason.

McCord said they dont mow the greens at Augusta they “bikini wax” them. I think he had another “gaff” about players leaving in body bags and mentioned a ball going into the cheap seats. He should have been put to death for all that
He also referred to the patrons as a crowd or a throng or something....

LIV sucks. Today proved that. Where, ever, does LIV offer this type of experience? Never. LIV may have some good players, but they don’t get to do this on LIV. LIV sucks.

As three finish in Top 5 and win about $3 mill. Tiring 4th extra round Phil shoots 65 (his best ever final round at Augusta) & Reed shoots 68. Lol

Mickelson was probably just mentally sharper at the end today because he hasn't played a round that has meant anything or had anything on the line in about 18 months (not to mention about 25 pounds lighter from his previous playing weight). The applause on 18 after his birdie putt would have been twice as loud if he hadn't torpedoed his reputation over the past year.

I don't necessarily have anything against Brooks Koepka, but it was delicious irony watching a LIV golfer have a 54-hole lead and just gag all over himself all day long in the final round.

Seems like Rahm has learned to manage his temper much better in the last 2-3 years. IMHO, he always had the physical skills but seemed to let the six inches between his ears get in the way.

.... and the the wife ain't hard on the eyes either!
He has a great caddy, kind of like Ted Scott was for Bubba before they split. Rahm wanted to hit a 5 wood on his send shot on 18 and the caddy talked him into hitting a 5 iron. I’m sure he gave him all of the safe yardages all day and kept him positive. Rahm still has a bad temper but he seems to make much better decisions than he did when he first got on tour.

You like LIV bc they play on Trump’s courses. MAGAts support LIV as a general rule. LIV had 4 players in the top 40.

That was Jack Whitaker, who called the patrons a “mob.” Clifford Roberts did not approve.
Can't remember who, but some commentator got taken to the Roberts woodshed for calling a bunker a "sand trap".

Mickelson's knowledge of Augusta National and how to play it is far above anyone else that played. He is a master of that place - along with his short game and style of play fits it perfectly - and has a big advantage there in terms of scoring. He's been playing terrible on LIV but he can play that course with his eyes closed. Let's see how he does in the other majors he gets to play in.

While I largely agree with this line of thinking, it is moving the goalposts now to try to avoid giving credit to some of the LIV guys. They ended up with 3 of the top 6 after loads of people claimed they’d perform terribly at majors.

Meanwhile, some of the PGA tour’s biggest names (Rory, JT) failed to make what is one of the easiest cuts to make each year.

It hasn't even been a year since these guys left the PGA Tour and schedule. That's nothing. Of course they haven't lost their games - YET.

And one more factor - they are playing without ANY pressure in terms of the paycheck they would receive from The Masters. That takes away some pressure that enters the mind. They are completely carefree. And don't think that didn't enter their minds prior to LIV windfall - it does creep in.

The LIV crew is a group of everyone’s least favorite asshole golfers that took terrorist money to shoot themselves in the foot.

I don’t think yesterday is the best example of them throwing away their competitive golf just yet so celebrating on their grave because brooks was caught seems like a stretch.
