Ozempic/Semaglutide Medication Thread

Keep at it guys, especially if you have diabetes. We just found out today that our 70 year old neighbor is gonna lose his foot due to complications.

Food all tastes terrible now. Every sweet flavor is muted and everything has a salty metallic taste that’s just awful. We got a rotisserie chicken dinner from the grocery store all the normal flavors I am familiar with and look forward to were gone. Chicken was flavorless cardboard, garlic roasted potatoes were bitter and metallic, macaroni was flavorless mush, and the sweet cornbread was just gritty and dull.

Worst of all I have this bitter salty taste in my mouth all day.

Sounds like your COVID flared up. Not the medication 😂😂

i hope the benefits are worth it because this sounds awful

This whole thing just sounds like a miserable experience.
A lot of people don’t have any side effects, some people just get diarrhea for the first few days and then they are fine. It seems like I am just one of the people who is getting the bad side effects.

My wife is supposed to start Ozempic this week. She is concerned about side effects and I told her she would be fine. I'm a little concerned after reading your experiences.

True, the side effects aren't always pleasant, which surprises me that people want to take it purely for cosmetic reasons.

In my case, the side effects are much better than the alternative. Being allergic to Metformin, I was on Glipizide, which eventually stopped working. Even on a keto diet, I couldn't stop my glucose from wildly fluctuating. I'd go from one extreme to the other, and there were days I didn't want to do anything but sleep. I really didn't want to start insulin, and so far, this med has done a great job of stabilizing my glucose and keeping my A1C in an appropriate range. For me, it's totally worth it.

Interesting article in the Wall Street Journal today on what the rise of weight loss drugs means for the diet industry.

Thanks... Hadn't read that one. I read the one last week in the WSJ about Mounjaro.

Randomly, I know the research analyst they quoted in the diet industry article. Used to work with him years ago.

Have pooped 6 times today. What did I have for dinner yesterday? A single hot dog. What did I have for breakfast today? An 8oz Vanilla Ensure. How the fuck does that make 6 poops? Where is the poop coming from?!

I'm going to the doc in May, going to ask about Ozempic as an option. I workout 3 to 4 days a week but I have some uncontrollable food cravings sometimes. I'm possibly pre-diabetic at this point. I've struggled my entire life with my weight. Sucks.

knowing what I do about your gastrointestinal habits, this ain't right

but then, I spent a full hour in the bathroom this morning because I ate too many grits last night, so what the hell

Wait until you have to get a colonoscopy.

May want to invest in a bidet.
