The Manning Buyout

He bought Ron Well-Man & Nathan O Hatch what ever kind of Frigidaire they wanted since both of them approved his contract extension!
Hatch’s role in the Manning fiasco (his initial hiring and his contract renewal) was much bigger than most people think. Some of the intense antipathy that people feel about Wellman should be directed at Hatch.

How many quad 1 wins did manning have in the John Collins season?

I went back and did a number of searches and read a lot of the Manning credibility thread (ugh)... The only talk of Manning leaving Wake for Kansas happened VERY early on in his tenure (like 2014 or 2015).

It was used as a joke by 2016. And even when we made the NCAA Tourney in 2017 and people thought we might be improving, I couldn't find a post where someone was concerned that Manning might actually leave.

We can search these things, people. It's not difficult.
I think it became a bit of a meme later on like "oh no, anything but that !"

but it seems that Kansas donks on Twitter were actually ok with it and think Wake fans are dumb for thinking their beloved Manning is an awful coach.

Excerpts from an article on the buyout in the Winston Salem Journal:

Report: Manning paid $14.7 million from Wake Forest
  • John Dell journalnow.com 5/31/23
Officials at Wake Forest didn't have a lot to say about a published report indicating that Danny Manning, a former men's basketball coach, was paid $14.7 million in 2021.

According to USA Today, Manning received the payment in 2021. The specific dollar figure was provided on the school’s federal tax return, which was obtained by the newspaper.

.....

...According to the USA Today article, the buyout is one of the biggest since the newspaper started tracking coaching buyouts in 2017. Archie Miller was fired by Indiana after the 2020-21 season and was scheduled to receive about a $10.3 million buyout.

Because Wake Forest is a private school, it also likely had to pay at least $2.6 million more in federal excise tax due to a 21% levy that applies to the pay of non-profit organizations’ most highly compensated employees, according to USA Today...
LOL, Journal quoting USA Today - great work!

same. we have a Frigidaire that has worked fine in the 5 years since we moved in. ice maker stopped working a few years ago. tried all kinds of fixes like trying to find frozen areas and melting with a hair dryer. then one day I accidentally reset its breaker trying to find another breaker and it started working again.
I have to take EVERYTHING out and defrost my fridge at least once a year.

I've had at least 3 fridge technicians claim that is common and what "you are supposed to do." I never read the damn manuals.

With regard to clearance, there's a sticker that says something like "must have 1-2 inches" around fridge.

Don't get me started on dishwashers...

All I have to give is 1-2 inches.

Wellman gambled $15 million-plus on KU stealing a successful coach with a successful program. Lost it all.

Hatch retired and, as far as I know, isn't visible with regards to Wake. I cringed every time I saw Wellman walk out of the tunnel 10 minutes into the first half at the basketball games. Literally, fuck that smug fucker and his bitch ass face!

A thread derailment finally works in my favor! We are in the market for a new fridge. The water/ice situation is a top priority. Suggestions are welcomed.

My kitchen aid doesn’t have a water/ice dispenser, you have to open the freezer and pull out a drawer to access the ice maker. Low key great feature, less parts to break or get fouled up.

yeah and not having to wait a minute to see if the motor can chuck another cube into your cup.

Grinding sounds then you get a shower of snow on your hand and a deformed cube or two. Not great!

I had this one. Absolutely loved it. the family hub was a fantastic benefit, being able to easily add items to grocery list that sync'd to phone. Leave messages on the whiteboard that you know someone will see etc.

My neighbor has this German one, Liebherr (or maybe it starts with an "M"), which seems pretty sweet, for like $7000.

That said, Bosch 800 series is only $2500 and seems solid. I've got a GE and put a tiny fan in the back to cool it, yeah, I know. But it works.
