Video Game Thread - $70 Zelda Expansion!

I added some planks to what they gave us. It was annoying though.

I was thinking yesterday about how misleading the game promotion was. I was under the impression that I'd be going back and forth between ground and sky but everywhere I go there's a well or cave. There's basically four levels to the game.

yah I feel like they stole the cave system/ideas from Elden Ring.

definitely struggled with quite a few shrines but once I switched back to focusing on them b2b2b for a day or so I definitely went through them alot faster. The Mayachin shrine (someone else mentioned earlier) definitely took some time as it's one of the first I visited and tried it a few times. But the one that gave me the most problems so far is that last part of the Utsushok Shrine down near Highland Stable. Holy shit did I do a lot of trial and error until I got it.

Jiukoum near the spring of courage and Orochium up in the Tabantha Tundra are the two left I haven't beaten after giving them both a couple tries over the past few weeks.

And as I speak on it I solve the thing in Jiukoum I struggled with in 2 seconds. Doing all the shrines at the same time certainly is helping me cause I spent a good 20-30 mins on that before with no avail. Edit (got the 2nd one here too, but largely in part due to spoilers from this thread)

at Dad of Kids pace, i'm wondering when i'll complete this game. after i beat the Rito temple i feel like i had enough power to explore confidently as long as I don't run into a Lynel or Gleeok. I think i spent 4 or 5 sessions just going through the Hyrule Castle Secret Passage

Took a few days off (because my kids wouldn't let me take the Switch when I went out of town for the weekend).

Started the Fire Temple last night and have been falling into lava (for absolutely no reason) more often than I'd like to admit.

I played a lot of Diablo this weekend.

Need to get on the main story a bit and at least get my mount. I'm almost to level 40 and have not completed act 1.

I also don't feel like I have a great build, but seems expensive to reskill. None of the legendary items I've gotten have been good enough to push me one direction.

Yeah you should finish campaign asap.. enemies gonna get locked to level 50 in WT2 so you'll be doing a lot of stuff potentially that won't be leveling you up much, have to finish campaign to unlock WT3

I've been telling my friends that + it's also good to just rush to act 3 at the very least so you get the mount (which makes world exploration/questing/etc that much faster if you really want to do more of that)

That’s where I was maybe two weeks ago. I still haven’t made it beyond central Hyrule. So I’m wondering the same.

yeah guys y'all are gonna be playing this shit in 2025 at this pace
I've got to be done by October 20. Wake Homecoming and Spider-man 2.

Hard to believe people complained about spending $70 on this game. It's about 3 times as big as BOTW. I'm playing 3-4 hours a night and feel like I'm getting nowhere. And it's not like I'm continually getting crushed by lynels and bosses. The combat isn't too bad.

And with the $99.99 two game vouchers, I got two copies of TOTK and birthday gifts for my boys (new Kirby game and Pikmin 4) for $200. So I saved about $60.

Yeah, my 45 minutes a night before bed should have me finishing the game sometime in 2024.
I wish I had your discipline. I go to bed after "let me get this one last shrine" and "let me see what's over here" two or three times an hour or two later.

It’s not really discipline. It’s having a wife next to me in bed that eventually tells me to “turn that shit off and go to bed.”

And then I sound exactly like one of my kids with the “I just gotta finish this one last thing” bullshit.

Last night, I did what I had told myself I shouldn't do. I went to an area of the depths without unlocking the overworld first. Couldn't find a light root to save my life.

Info on open-world Star Wars Outlaws and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora games dropped this week.

So I'm the only one who did every tower in the game before anything else?

After I finish the Fire Temple (hopefully tonight), I think the plan is to go back to just exploring for a while... I also enjoy just doing the towers to open the map.

I'm an explorer. Years ago when I was looking to change careers, I took an aptitude test that confirmed it and said my ideal job would be Park Ranger.

Josha tells you to go into the Forest of Time chasm and go southwest to find more statues. I’ve done that and found some key buildings but no statues. I’m going to give up and do more shrines I’ve found through light roots then go to Kakiriko village.
