Official 2022-23 NBA Offseason - Aces win WNBA Finals; Preseason; NBA Fantasy League last call

Markkanen and Collins seem like not a great fit
It's not a traditional fit but it's a good 3 man rotation that gives them a lot of flexibility and size. Collins can do what Olynyk did for them last year. Collins can play a small ball 5 with Markannen.

John Collins to the Jazz for Rudy Gay and a 2nd.

I was already high on the Jazz. Now I think they’re a sleeper to finish top 3 in the West. I think more moves with all those assets they have.
Jazz are a long way from Top 3 in the West. Apparently JC was born in Utah so it’s cool he gets to have a homecoming.

There goes Kyle Kuzma’s best chance of some team offering him the bag in free agency.

When Collins hit 40% of his threes a few years ago it seemed like he'd found his fit in the league - tough to see it plummet to under 30% just three years later. Really crushes his value, seemed like he just missed open 3 after open 3 during the Hawks feeble playoff efforts recently. Hard to watch, hope he figures it out in Utah.

Thorough explanation of JC's finger injury, from a year ago. Sounds like something that can be corrected with a brace and a lot of not using it.

I'm listing to The Ringer podcast discuss the JC trade. MY GIRL Seerat Sohi dropped some great stats showing that JC wasn't really playing his role last season. His average shot distance of 12.2 feet was the longest of his career. Only 11% of his shots were dunks (compared to 22% two seasons ago) and only 29% of his shots came within 3 feet. "He was not playing John Collins basketball. Just getting back to that will be huge for him."

They like the fit between a rim-protecting big and versatile wing and as a PNR partner for Collin Sexton. They wouldn't be surprised if JC comes off the bench but noted Markennen was fine playing with Olynyk and Vanderbilt at the 4.

But how does ya girl know that he is going to get back to John Collins basketball? There are an inordinate amount of NBA players whose performance would improve if someone simply told them to stop shooting threes and plant their ass in the paint (or at a minimum inside the arc). Very few coaches in today's game outside of Spo seem to be willing to tell their players to do that. I couldn't tell you who the Jazz head coach is, so I have no idea whether he'll have the balls to tell JC to stop hoisting.

The Hornets extended qualifying offers to both Miles Bridges and PJ Washington, making them both RFAs. The Pistons and maybe Kings are the only teams with the room and ability to seriously consider Bridges, but my guess is the Hornets will match, or at least sign and trade.

If they resign Bridges to a longterm deal, I don't really see them spending money on PJ but I guess it could happen. But with drafting Miller, they don't need two 6'9" guys who pussy around the perimeter on offense shooting threes, so I would let him walk. I'm assuming the market will be higher for PJ than Bridges, though Bridges is a much better player.

hornets should go big with a primary lineup of lamelo - miller - bridges - PJ - williams

4 shooters and a rim protecting big. versatile switchable defense.
