Conference Expansion: Stanford, California and SMU Join the ACC

I worked as a student athletic trainer that year and the first game I got to be on the sideline for was UConn. We got destroyed and it was like 40 degrees and raining all day. Miserable.
My first major sporting event that my family took me to attended was a Phillies-Padres double header that we saw two innings of in 1993. It rained, we went home. Woke up the next morning to find out that Mitch "Wild Thing" Williams won the game with a hit at 4:41 am. After that, I vowed to never leave a game early again. That Wake-UConn game was what finally made me break my vow.

I'm talking about status in the conference. Recruiting doesn't matter without results. I know that's sacrilege to an SEC fan.

I’d need to see Wisconsin beat a team like FSU on a legitimately big stage like the playoff before I give the whole coaching is more important than recruiting schtick any credence, and even then I’d still view it as more of an exception than the rule. Wiscy’s starting 22 is probably fairly comparable to Wake with regards to talent, hell I’d honestly give Wake a slight edge. Also that’s exactly the type of narrative Harsin and his people tried to feed Auburn while he was there and we all saw how that went on the field.

FSU hasn't been on a big stage in awhile. But I'm not going to argue a comparison I thought about for two seconds. My point was that FSU isn't on par with PSU.

If you think Wake and Wiscy are comparable you should see a neurologist. You also fail to consider that talent in the north goes under the radar more often than the south with croots

USC doesn’t get much respect on this board but I truly believe Beamer is building something there. If the ACC wants to make a football statement it has that chance when top 20 UNC (third highest pre season rank in ACC) plays USC out of the gate in CLT. Lose that, have LSU beat FSU (ranked 8) first week and ND beat State in Raleigh and Wake lose to Vandy then the ACC rep shits the bed before September is over

Wake will demolish Vandy but theres no shot UNC can beat USC, LSU v FSU is a tossup

I think the starting 22 certainly are. Wiscy has far more quality depth across entire roster but I don’t think you’re giving Clawson enough credit for being a great evaluator and having an eye for talent.

Auburn doesn't even have a law school so let's just keep that in mind as we read posts from Auburn's 40 year old Widespread Panic fan.

Currie was on WFNZ this morning ducking and dodging every question about conference realignment. He did take some time to gleefully report that Wake's football TV ratings are higher than NC State and Duke, and only slightly lower than UNC.

What brand does the Big 10 have? Losing teams across every sport, cold weather, boring low-scoring football and basketball, and every major collegiate sexual abuse scandal
Yes, that’s pretty much the brand. They do have a lot of full stadiums and more money on offer than most leagues though. League lacks a sound recruiting base though.

Auburn may be racist but I just read this morning that they are opening an on-campus brewery that will be instructional as well

I would like to know exactly what metrics that ESPN/Fox are using to measure the value of the schools and conferences. I’m aware of the broadcast/streaming viewers and social media engagement, but surely all of the metrics can’t be directly correlated to fanbase/alumni base size.
