That or -stein is more common than -stain so we generally misspell it even though we all pronounce it “AIN.”

Both of those are actually plausible. Rowling does seem like she forgot she was playing a part but couldn’t be reeled in.

I listened to a podcast yesterday that explained Disney got first shot at the HP books, films, and theme park rights but either turned them down or didn’t give a good enough pitch to Rowling. Seems like a good way for a media group to stick it to the biggest company in their space.
