Conference Expansion: Stanford, California and SMU Join the ACC

NC State cast the deciding vote while actively on probation to admit the only team that ever got the death penalty.
Arizona has been to the Final Four four times since Wake won its last ACC title in basketball.
Colorado has a top 30 recruiting class in football.
You're original post cited football as the ACC's problem, but if you want to shift the goalposts to basketball to fit a lame take that's your prerogative I guess.

And it's cool that Colorado is recruiting well. Nebraska has had a bunch of top classes and fuck all to show for it.

When you had the option to do the same thing and have that plan actually sustainable, you should have done that. Truthfully, the way to save the ACC long-term was contraction, rather than expansion. Focus the value on the teams that actually deliver it and the league survives. This just make the undesirable outcome the most probable. Way too little, way too late.
I, personally, never really had an option to do anything other than watch sports (or decide not to watch sports)

Unless you count their share of the $8 billion dollar t.v. deal.

Contraction would never solve the ACC issue in a meaningful way for the bulk of the member schools. That’s a silly comment

If the eight biggest fanbases dissolved the ACC and reconstituted and put their regained rights back on the market on a shorter term deal, they would have done better than locking themselves into the death spiral of this current deal.

well you see that would have really hurt Wake Forest, which is of particular interest on this board.

The Grant of Rights is the only thing keeping it together right now.

If there were only eight teams remaining, then the public schools left would go to another conference and it would leave Wake, BC, Tech, and maybe Duke. We would then grab Sun Belt and AAC teams and be in a much, much worse situation. So basically those schools, App, ECU, Georgia Southern, James Madison...IF we're lucky.

Contraction would never, ever work.

This is about the best-case scenario for Wake. We survive for the foreseeable future in a top-3 league. That was going to be the ceiling for WF in this environment, and we hit it. Nothing else really matters. And the revenue share is nice advantage for awhile.

I mean you're posting about this on the Wake message boards. Sure I guess they theoretically could have done that but there's no way the "eight biggest fanbases" were going to get together and agree on it given the history of the ACC, geography, traditional rivalries, etc. that several of those fanbases are interested in at least maintaining some semblance of.

why are y’all arguing with this fucking ghoul. Dude lost all credibility on this board long ago to the point where he had to change his name to get away from his awful takes.
I have no idea who this guy is.

@mods can we please change his name to ContractionDeac
