You stated we are waaaay overreacting and that Clemson is likely to "run the table". I have $500 that says they won't. Straight up. Take it or leave it.
 
He stated they "could easily" run the table, not that they were likely to do so. Big difference. Of course you are eager to take that bet because the odds are tilted in your favor. The only team I'd be confident saying they are "likely" to run the table at this point in the season is Georgia. The list ends there.

that's not how that works. . . . if you credit Clemson for scoring on their various drives, it does not mean that Duke puts up the same amount of points. . . each score changes the dynamic of the game and the play calling for the other team.

I get what you are saying, and Duke had a certain amount of points at game's end, but if Clemson scores multiple times throughout the game, the game does change.

I don't like the instant eligibility transfer portal and I actually appreciate his staff to an extent, but the object is to compete and win games. The transfer portal is a reality and while recruiting well and developing players will remain important, equally as important is going to be bringing in players via the portal that address team needs each season. FSU looks like a completely different team compared to this time last year and look at Colorado. Unless, you're Georgia or Alabama and maybe a very few others that recruit so well that you're just reloading most positions with high quality recruits, most other teams success is going to be highly dependent on how well they use the portal to bring in players to address the needs each season.

Clemson is not good. I'd put $500 down for Wake to beat them this year. Making the trip up there for the game with my fiancé for this reason.

It would've helped if one of his best DCs during his tenure weren't....coaching in the same conference 90 minutes away and just beat Clemson

Exec compensation is something like 400-1. It was less than 20-1 in the 1960's.

Football player compensation is roughly 85-1 (and that includes all coaches), so I guess we can exploit athletes way more

How much does NIL change that? Let me be clear, I am not making an argument excusing how much coaches and administrators make on the backs of the student athletes. SAs do receive "benefits" and now pay beyond just scholarship and medical expenses so this seems intentionally misleading. Unfortunately, it may still not be that far off.

I'll take all of this nonsense as a "no". I don't care about word parsing. I DO enjoy making $$$ and the $500 offer stands until Friday.

Some of us can't afford Tier 1 condos at Myrtle Beach so we have to make our money elsewhere.
