hey k(r)eeper: Why isn't Dino head coaching somewhere?

You jerks don't have to try to make it personal.

I wouldn't have hired Dino to start with, but I understand why they did, and I was a fan. I wouldn't have fired Dino when they did, but I understand why they did. Unbeknownst to us fans, we apparently had little to no institutional control, and we were NCAA bait just waiting to be embarrassed or worse. I'm not sure we're out of the woods yet on that, and yes, Dino as head coach was directly responsible for that, no matter what his win-loss record was.

And I am still a fan. Go Deacs.

Neither of these two points are accurate, but I realize it is a popular POV and that those who hold them truly dont want the facts to get in the way of a good story.

In no way am I suggesting that Dino would be classified as a good D1 head coach. But there was "institutional control" and we never even sniffed NCAA violations.

When the facts are not known publicly and what is released is often incomplete if not inaccurate, we are left with the natural tendency to fill in the blanks in an attempt to make sense of things. Rarely do we get it right.

Go Deacs.

Oh, my...

Oh, my...

I am not sure you know what institutional control means from a NCAA perspective. It is more about administrators, coaches, and boosters doing stupid things than it is about players doing stupid things.

Domestic violence, drunk driving, etc, etc aren't against NCAA rules.

"I told you so" threads are kind of hollow when coming off 8-24 seasons where we aren't expected to be much better this year. We are basically hoping to be a bubble team the year after next.

It's not hollow when the current state of our program can partly be attibuted to Dino.

The OP does have a point, though. Shortly after Dino got fired, all the Dino lovers said he'd be hired by a top program in no time because he was such a great coach and every fan who thought he sucked was completely wrong.

Yet, Dino's still working on ESPNU with seemingly little to no options of coaching anytime soon.

I think it is pretty weak to blame Dino for things that happened over a year after he was fired.

Also, I have no clue how hard he has pursued other coaching opportunities. Maybe he has pursued them hard. Maybe he likes his ESPNU gig for personal reasons and will pursue jobs at a later date.

I am so over the Dino thing. The decision has been made and the die is cast. Hopefully Bzzz can get us going in the right direction.

Did moonz delete his post that admitted this was a callout thread and negrep me instead? And is the rule that kanhoji is the only one not allowed to be called out? Or that mods are the only ones allowed to start callout threads? Or that only mods can make callout threads and they have to moronically be I told you so threads about a coach far better than the new one?

No one said that. People thought he might land a mid-major job.

Uh, no one said that. I'll be honest, I thought he'd be hired by a bad high major program (ex: Texas Tech) or a decent mid-major program (ex: Dayton), but I never thought he would be hired by one of the stronger high major programs (ex: Maryland).

I think a lot of fans were unreasonably harsh on Dino (ex: RJ's "any mediocre coach could have gotten to the Elite 8 with the talent Dino had in 2009"), but I never thought he was a great coach, and you don't have to be a great coach to get a decent coaching job. I'd wager that most "Dino supporters" held similar lines of thinking.

No I didn't. No it didn't.

Yes...at 9:04 in the 2nd half the ref stopped the game because the shot clock started and then stopped...should have been at 31, but stayed at 34...why did it do that keeper?
