Official 2023 College Football Thread: Michigan Recognized as National Champions of Cheating !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do we know if Utah, UF, or Tenn are any better than the Duke team Clemson fell out of the rankings for losing to? Clemson would be top 10 if they beat Duke now but they’re dropped from #25.

Same thing happened last year. UF beat Utah and immediately went in the top 15. The UK beats UF and goes in the top 10. Then ole miss beat uo and was highly ranked. And none of them were very good.

Utah was good all year and Florida beat them in Week One and deserved to be ranked highly as a result.

Ole Miss started the season 8-1. Where were they supposed to be ranked ?

the thing about college football is that very few teams are actually good

Honestly, that’s how low they all should be. That plane was still at least 500 feet above the stadium. Absolutely no issue. I think it’s so stupid when you get a flyover of five F-15’s or something like that and they’re 3,000 feet above the stadium going 250 mph. Just worthless. Let ‘em fly fast and low, the way they were meant to.
Like the 2007 Orange bowl game. . . . those after burners shook the stadium and darn near shook my wallet out of my back pocket! lol

We were sitting about 10 rows beneath that jumbotron, and i still remember looking at the orange fire in the jet engines as they flew away. . . . amazing!

Utah was good. Florida did not deserve to be ranked 12 after one win. Louisville beat top 10 Wake Forest last season and got exactly 1 vote in the AP poll the following week.

Sure, but it was Week One. Voters were dealing with a small sample size. they had a high confidence level that Utah was good and the fact that Florida was able to beat them in Week One was a reasonable datapoint for ranking them somewhere. Louisville beat Wake in Week 9 to improve to 5-3 with losses to Syracuse, FSU and BC. If you want to argue that early season rankings are basically meaningless, I'll basically agree with you. But if we're going to have early season ranking, which we absolutely are, then you can expect some volatility and a few eyerolls.

The Deacs are off, but here are the ACC Kickoff times and TV assignments for Week 5:

Friday, Sept. 29
  • Louisville at NC State, 7 p.m. ET on ESPN – as previously announced
Saturday, Sept. 30
  • Clemson at Syracuse, Noon ET on ABC
  • Virginia at Boston College, 2 p.m. ET on The CW Network
  • Bowling Green at Georgia Tech, 3:30 p.m. ET on ACC Network
  • Notre Dame at Duke, 7:30 p.m. ET on ABC
  • Pitt at Virginia Tech, 8 p.m. ET on ACC Network

CW must excited for that UVA at BC matchup. If ND beats tOSU this week (think the Irish have a solid chance), I LOVE Duke to push ND to the limit in Week 5. Love it.

Exactly - they should all be like that. I remember that one as well, I was under the jumbotron and it scared the shit out of me. Totally awesome.
