GT Game Thread

Cam and Les are nothing more than athletic department shills. They trade propaganda for access. Know what you’re gettting…

Cams silence on this tells you everything. They aren’t journalists…they are essentially the Iraqi PR team
You were there when Cam called Hartman the worst qb in Wake history

not very shill-y

I think it's fine for reasonable minds to disagree about what needs to go on in the future/the rest of the year.

Personally, I think it's a very good mix of the line being poor, and Griffis having little to no confidence in what he's doing out there when the lights come on. The decision-making has been questionable at best, and that's probably doing it more justice than it deserves. It's not all black and white with just one thing or another.

I have no idea what we've got in Kern behind Griffis, but I do know the staff has way more intel than almost anybody here on the boards in what goes on there. I think it's a really fine line to walk between getting Griffis a breather to let him see the game a bit differently, and just getting rid of any confidence that he has in himself at all. I also am at least intrigued to see what Kern could bring to the table.

Something has to change, and if our line doesn't block well then it's not going to give any QB back there much of a chance. I do think we need to at least consider changing some of our play calls and getting Griffis out of the pocket more on rollouts. His pocket presence is probably his worst attribute, and he's being asked to make a good number of decisions back there, most of them with not much time to throw it. When he does have time, he just doesn't have the internal clock necessary to succeed. Is this something that can improve to the point where he can be reliable for us? I really don't know the answer to that, but I feel like you can get better with time as far as getting the ball out and where it needs to go, BUT, at the same time, a lot of guys just innately know when the ball has to come out. Mitch just doesn't have that right now.

Really good time for a bye week to try to get something in the works that will allow us to be successful for the rest of the year,

Les defended Wellman to the end. He needs the access to pay his bills. I guess it pays his bills. I'm assuming some still get unpaid.

Nice enough fella, way nicer than me. But you are reading a hack job to defend Wake Forest at all costs.

I've stood beside these guys in the past:

Venuto - 6'1
Barnhill - 6'2
Larue - 6'2
McPherson - 5'11
Skinner - 6'0
Newman - 6'4
Hartman - 6'1

I am about 5'11 and 1/2 - that 1/2 is key to include.

I assume Griffis is 5'10, since we list him as 5'11, but difference is his release point. He is not releasing it at a high point, more side-arm.

That and his dancing around, because PRE-SNAP he does not really know what to do, thus we are in TROUBLE.

I say, try Kern. Very tough place to give it a go at CU, but what else do we want to do - watch Griffis get battered all game while dancing around?

That or the wildcat. If we ran wildcat all game vs. GT, with our 3 backs, the final score would be interesting, versus continual disasters, putting our D in a position to fail.

I actually love the idea of giving Key a few snaps at Wildcat QB.

And again, it's not like we are "clamoring" for Kern because we think he'll be the savior. He (hopefully) doesn't even need to really win us games. We just can't keep trotting out a QB who is losing us games. There's no way Griffis isn't in the bottom 5 QBs in the entire country in the last 2 weeks in terms of hurting his team's chances to win.

Honestly, I've been concerned about Griffis's release point since last year. It's low and he's already short. His ability to change arm angles on his throws has been sold as an advantage, but I've never seen him with a higher release point and that's tough when you're 5'10" trying to throw around guys 6'4" or taller. Guys like Dan Marino and Phillips Rivers could get away with it, but those guys were 6'4" or better.

So who on the ogboards.com staff will be attending practices and the press conferences going forward? Biff Tannen?

you know for someone who likes calling out people for not attending things, maybe it's time you stepped up, pal

Come on man. Be better than this. Make your point without trying to drag someone about unpaid bills etc. Ffs.

Unfortunately I'm not a green ogboards.com "Super User". What's Irish Slim up to these days?

I think we also need to adapt our overall offensive philosophy to what we've got. Our run blocking has oddly been pretty good, and we have a strong defense. Let's use these two weeks to get to a place where we can rely on our strengths instead of continuing to try to put a square peg in a round hole.

Run the ball, shorten the game, then try to stretch the field every once in a while.

Irish was never a super user, just a moderator, but don't let facts get in the way of you being a shithead.

Lulz - Thanks for the correction. Any way we can get a list of the distinguished super users so we don't confuse with the hard working moderators going forward?
