A QB needs 10 other players to execute for plays to work. Pick another analogy. The QB gets too much credit when things are good and too much blame when they are bad. Watch the tape. There are breakdowns happening at multiple positions. Benching Mitch now would destroy his confidence. Short QBs can do well in Clawson’s offense. The coaches are going to try to fix the problems before throwing out the baby with the bath water.

Maybe. Maybe not. And if it does destroy his confidence, maybe something else would have (like eating the football 11 times in Death Valley).

Hartman got benched and turned out ok. Maybe Mitch needs to see someone else execute what Mitch has been coached to do (and which Mitch has, per his coach, not executed well enough).

So, umm, I'm not sure if you've heard what I've heard, but a reliable source close to the program told me recently he thinks Clawson will go to MSU, if offered. Same guy clued me into Sam's injury last year being not that bad very early (and made me some nice coin on Vegas season win total arbitrage opportunities).

Now, I'm not sure if this is just his own personal feeling or is based on any substantive rumblings, but it didn't give me the warm and fuzzies. I personally don't think he'd take that mess of a job, but who knows.
He had WF in great shape (against all odds) and then NIL and the portal happened. FSU gets 16 new players (Colorado gets 60), and WF has modest NIL to keep players from leaving and can get very few transfers through the admissions office. I’m sure he’s frustrated as hell.

Got to think Narduzzi is their first choice and he's shown he can win the big game, Clawson hasn't.

Clawson has been a good fit for wake but he's had pretty soft schedules and has never gotten over the hump of winning a big game besides NC State or Carolina once. It would suck to lose him but I'm not worried with Currie at the helm.

Wake has enough riches and facilities to attract a great coach.... Someone that may be able to elevate us from good to great.

Be careful, ironwill. There are people on here who will read that and see "ClawsonOUT!"

I think if we didn’t have the bye week, sitting Mitch would be the right call. Have him take a breather and watch the game with the QB coach and get ready to come back if Kern wasn’t the answer.

With the bye, though, if I’m the coach, I spend a lot of time resetting Mitch’s internal clock, start start him and give him the first quarter. If I don’t see a lot of improvement, Kern is in.

Soft schedules? WF has been in the tougher ACC division and faced UNC and ND multiple times on top of that. Someone else could also lower us to Caldwell type of seasons.

I think it has to be a clear decision by Clawson. If there is any doubt in Clawson’s mind, then that will likely make Mitch feel the pressure to perform and thus take chances that will result in TOs. Any way you slice it, Clawson, Mitch, the coaches, and the whole offense better get on the same page, otherwise a 4 win season at best.

slow down, wondering your connection as a newer poster and clear Clawson apologist.... He isn't getting run off anytime soon.
He's a solid tier 3 coach. and wake fans are happy with post season exhibition games...so it's all good

Beat that dead horse.

By soft I mean guarantee of a bowl game. We always have three or four layups and then it's finding two wins in what has been a pretty soft ACC these past eight years.

What does he have in ranked wins? NC State win with Newman when they were like #23?

Clawson has six wins over ranked teams. The OOC schedules have been very weak, especially considering ND is on the schedule because of the ACC arrangement.

Oh dang my bad. Didn't realize he had that many. I'm trying to think of one besides state and am drawing a blank
