MBB Game 1: Elon Phoenix at WF - Monday (11/6) 8 pm ACCN+

we didn't have a lot of assists, but looks like the offensive engine will be cam, sallis, and carr. if we get damari and parker keeping defenses honest on the perimeter, we're going to be hard to guard.

Cam helping with that as well. 40% from 3 will catch people's ( and opposing coaches) attention.

and we can crap on marsh - but it was once again our 3 pt defense that stunk. and we didn't create many turnovers.
 
I remember a really skinny ACC guard that had pretty good run. One Juan Dixon. That dude was unstoppable from anywhere on the court.
 
Keep in mind 3M is a "vic" so that shot will come around sooner or later.

Worth mentioning that he has a 14 year old little sister who is 6-4 and racking up offers from seemingly every coach except Gebbia.

you must have missed the few times he was sagging 10 ft away from his smaller guy and let him take a 3, he was part of the problem in the first half

Dude she’s 14 and can almost dunk. She’d be a program changing recruit and Gebbia still hasn’t offered.

Did you know Jewel Spear has a little brother who is a top 50 player in the 2026 class? Tennessee offered him two weeks after Jewel transferred.
 
Our transition defense in the first half, and just finding anybody after a made basket or missed shot on our end was abysmal.

It was man to man too. I wonder if some of the early frequent subs caused some confusion, but simply finding your man running back up court is the easiest thing you can do.

You’re just approaching 22’s “love of Surry Co. receivers” level as far as boards fawning goes (not saying it’s not justified).

I'm just putting the entire first half in the garbage and pretending it never happened.

I do, however, reserve the right to pull it back out of the garbage if it repeats itself on Friday and we have obvious defensive problems.

I mean, unless Reid wins his appeal, we've done nothing to the roster to improve our interior defense aside from hoping another year of development would help Marsh, Carr, and Keller figure it out. And I think Carr is a very good defender, but I still view him as more of a 4. Maybe MMM at the 4 and Carr at the 5 is the answer, but that's asking a lot of them both.
 
Agreed - assuming Reid does not become eligible I think the 5 defense is going to be extremely problematic all year. I think Carr will wind up with a lot of mins there out of necessity and that will lead to foul problems.
 
Is this the year Keller becomes James Johnson? Because that would help.

Could 3M fill in some minutes as an undersized small ball 5? That could help in matchups that just don't work out for Marsh.

Perhaps, but I've always thought of him as a 3/4. Of course, I'd never seen him play an actual game until Monday night, so who knows.

It's all duct tape and band-aids until/unless we get Reid in uniform. That's my biggest concern for this season.
