2023 Carolina Panthers thread - HOF Julius Peppers

The Panthers went from a franchise who could only draft well in the 1st round to a franchise who traded the good 1st round picks and drafted poorly in the 1st round.

so i guess the next step in making panthers fan suffer is when we give up on Jaycee Horn for being the most injured guy in the league and he becomes a durable all pro with his next team.

Fitterer should be toast. He already would be if he weren't a world class ass-kisser. We need to hire someone from Green Bay's front office. Look at how they draft and develop especially on offense. They have like 5 really good young receivers that all seem to be studs and none came in the first round. They (we - Packers are my fav team) are absolutely loaded for years for Jordan Love.

Peak Bryce is very good. He has a nice ceiling. But it’s concerning how he can’t make the basic plays both due to size, athleticism, and poor decision making.
You could say that about any backup QB at the NFL level. But the consistency is the difference between a backup and a good starter. The only reason Bryce is still starting is because they used the #1 pick on him and are holding out hope. But as an NFL starting QB, he stinks.

And what the hell was the last play before the half? With like 2 second left from the 45, they line up in a Hail Mary formation, which makes sense. But then he snaps the ball and immediately just throws it sideways out of bounds. If you are just packing it in, why aren't you just taking a knee? Why line up like that if you're not going to at least try to throw it in the endzone? Bizarre.

In that case wasn’t there like 3-5 secs left? So a kneel would stop the clock and give them the ball on the wrong side of the 50. Snap and throw OOB ran the clock off with little risk…unless the vaunted line couldn’t hold their block for half a sec to let the play happen and then strip sack/score…

Or maybe the Hail Mary throw slipped out of his Trump sized hands in the rain

I did enjoy seeing Tepper’s fat ass waddle down in the box as the Panthers closed out another loss.

I was thinking the same thing. They’ve drafted very well.

For example, the Packers drafted Romeo Doubs and Zach Tom in the late 4th round of the 2022 draft. Fit used his 4th round pick and the 2023 3rd to trade up for a hail mary Matt Corral pick.

Fit has to be fired ASAP. And they need to hire a GM to hire the coach. Tepper has enough cash he should be able to hire away an experienced GM to run the entire football side.

I think Pete Carroll is the brains in Seattle. Russ and Fit have struggled away from him.

Yeah, but if he hired someone like that, they surely wouldn't allow Nicole Tepper to make football personnel decisions. And we can't lose her right to do that

Not just someone from GB. You should only interview directors of college scouting, not someone from the pro personnel department. Given the lack of quality from your last few drafts, I'd wager a bet that it's not just Fit who sucks at evaluating college talent. Your scouting department isn't doing a great job either. So bring in that director of college scouting to be GM, let him make whatever changes he wants to the scouting department, and then let him help you select the next coach. But what is the chance that Tepper actually does it that way.

No, I think he meant "someone" from the front office with no scrutiny on who that person is or what his experience is. So maybe one of the front office custodians or a marketing person would be a good hire for GM.

If I were Tepper, I would go find a GM outside of the traditional mold. You're at rock bottom, shake things up a bit, it's worth the potential upside. Steer away from some retread who's been in the league forever and hire someone young and hungry, even if they don't have much of a track record. Get someone like Catherine Raîche...34 years old, female in a male dominated industry, meteoric rise through the ranks in her career thus far...you can't tell me someone like that wouldn't go kick some ass and turn things around or at least die trying. But Tepper is way too insecure to do something like that, so he'll hire another yes man and rinse and repeat all over again.
