Football Deacs in the NFL

I know Donald has talked retirement. I wonder if having a young partner will encourage him to stick around longer.
They seem to have a great relationship. And Turner has talked a lot about how much he’s learned from Donald this year.

Wake fans have to step it up with nicknames. The Conductor is good. And Hawks fans came up with John the Baptist for Collins when it should have been obvious for us.

I remember seeing John the Baptist on Wake Twitter.

Kobe Turner for NFL Defensive ROY is gaining momentum. For most of the season, Eagle Jalen Carter (the UGA drag racer) was the prohibitive favorite, but the Eagles have collapsed (the defense in particular), Carter isn't on the field for even half of the defensive snaps because he is a fat ass, and Kobe Turner has been progressively putting bigger games each week.

Here is an article discussing KT's DROY candidacy

In some states, DROY is a bet-able market. A month ago, Jalen Carter was -20000 to win. His odds have plummeted. Kobe wasn't on the Board until three weeks ago. He opened at 100 to 1. He was 25 to 1 heading into last week. He's at +575 now.

Think people's heads might explode before they could comprehend that Kobe Turner from WF (through Richmond) is a better NFL DT than the UGA 5 star who can't keep his fat ass on the field for more than three straight plays.

Kobie is averaging 41 snaps per game and Carter is averaging 35. Kobie played a season-high 61 snaps this past Sunday. Carter's season-high is 76. Kobie's playing great on his own merits. No need for hyperbole.

For comparison, Fletcher Cox plays 46 snaps a game (probably because he is a fat ass) and Aaron Donald plays 54.

Round 3, Pick 89- DT Kobie Turner (Wake Forest)

Grade: C+

Kobie Turner shows promise as an athlete in his game tape, but his lack of length might cause some issues at the NFL level. As an undersized defensive tackle, length is a valuable asset for versatility in playing inside-out. However, Turner could struggle because of his physical limitations. Despite this, Turner has a fierce competitive spirit. His hands are incredibly powerful. He may not start early in his career, but he could still become a valuable player.

Turner should be a good pro after a productive career at Richmond and Wake Forest. However, as promising as he is, there were some other players on the board who may have been able to help the Rams more. Those players include Siaki Ika, Kelee Ringo, Adetomiwa Adebawore and Darius Rush, among others.

Turner was a lesser-known prospect for fans because he didn’t attend the combine, so he didn’t get the chance to show off his quickness or athleticism in Indianapolis. But when you turn on the tape, you see a player who disrupts the offense by using his agility to get into the backfield and reroute running backs in the hole.

There isn’t a clear path to playing time for Turner right now because he plays the same position as Aaron Donald, but he can at least rotate in when Donald needs a breather on defense. In terms of value, the Rams may have been able to get Turner a bit later, but it’s hard to say he would’ve been there at their next pick, No. 128.
