MBB Game 15: @ FSU Tuesday (yikes) 7 pm ACCN

Think maybe we are underestimating the effect of the travel. At BC and at FSU in a week span in the middle of winter with a tough OT game at home in between. Half the country is fighting a virus. I know they're kids and in top shape but I think we were tired and dragging ass a little, mentally if not physically. No big deal. Just win Sat. Windshield mentality as Dabo likes to say. Eyes forward.

I’m not sure I’ve ever seen quite that mix of poise to come back from double-digit deficits on the road in both halves, combined with stretches like the start of the 2nd half where you’d think there is no way they can handle the pressure. What a weird game. Hold serve at home on Saturday and move on.

Bad losses, sure. Not in this same fashion though.
Idk I mean we still ended up losing by 5. Many 'great' teams can have a bad night and still end up losing by 5 or a even a much larger margin in conference play on the road.

Strange how its so straightforward for people to deem us a mediocre team so easily. Move on, beat UVA and vibes are right back up. We have a squad this year

I don’t understand the Marsh love. He brings nothing to the table. You expect Forbes to say “Marsh DNP because he’s ass”? Everybody knows he’s not playing because he’s not good enough and if you ask Forbes he’s just going to give some coach speak about best chance to win, etc.

It's not Marsh love. Nobody brings anything to the table after Reid, and he's on the bench for good chunks during games because he cannot refrain from making dumb fouls. Keller is not better than Marsh, and in some cases, such as against physical teams, the presence of Marsh in the middle is probably better than the presence of Keller.

Right now, we are getting jack shit from our bigs. Another clunker game from Carr. Reid rides the pine half the time so his production is limited. Our bigs are a problem, and if they need to play less (Carr, for example, who gets beat down), then Marsh provides depth at the very least where we don't have any.

I said "very good." I still think this is a good team, nowhere did I say bad or mediocre. Until we get over the hump, and I think this is the year, every loss like this will be scrutinized regardless of final margin. We played terrible, per usual, against physicality.

Yeah, I think that a pretty good game plan against us would be to beat the shit out of us and make the refs actually officiate. Especially works well with a crew like last night and having a 12 man rotation.

We had 20 turnovers and they had 10 steals. 10 non steal turnovers seems pretty hard to do and not something that occurs a lot.

Maybe let’s remove the word yikes from the title of the next game thread
I apologize unreservedly. This one was on me (and not WF's 20 TOs)...

Howdy, partner!! New around these here parts??

Carr needs to be a threat and score more. He's good in the low post, too.

When the opponent face-guards Boopie on the inbound pass 94 feet away from the basket, Frederichson needs to help handle the ball when the other team is pressing. Cam basically gets winded, and then makes bad turnovers. PFred needs not run away from the ball. He's good and we need him with Monsanto out.

Is Sallis injured? Hand or ankle, or both? If he scores 10, we will struggle. If he scores 18+ we will win.

Yep - This squad definitely has stretches when it looks like a 2nd week NCAA tourney team and stretches where it appears like they've never played organized basketball before.

And this occurs sometimes during the same game.

Hooray for volatility

what fashion are you referring to?

Nebraska ran roughshod over Purdue last night, leading the final 23 minutes in an easy double-digit win.

Arizona went to mediocre Stanford and never led, losing by double digits.

Stuff happens on the road in conference play.

These kinds of games are going to happen, especially on the road. There was probably some "let down" after the win on Saturday too. I think we'll regroup and hopefully play much better against UVA. If we do that we'll be fine.
Let's learn from this turnover fest and beat NC State on the road. Need a few road wins and the FSU game was supposed to be one of them.

Well, beat UVA first.

I tried to watch the condensed game, but then Boopie misses the 3, stands there posing, does not get back on D = bucket.

Then Keller gets punked and knocked backwards (not strong enough) for 2. Then Keller throws the telegraphed pass across the defense (hot potato, you know I am not going to shoot or drive "where is a guard quick"), which is picked off - FSU 3-pointer BANG.

Watch that film Forbes, then GET AFTER THEM. Not good basketball.

And Keller plus 3-M should be lifting weights AFTER home games. That's what Michael and the Bulls did, damnit.
