Let's talk about the return of Damari Monsanto

Dawson held my top spot pre-Damari, but I don't know anything about the guys before the mid-90s

Monsanto's range is just far beyond anything Dawson ever showed

Yeah the line is 2.5 feet back from where it was when Dawson and Chill both played. Those two guys were just under 40% for their career; not bad for the time for volume shooters. Damari is better.

Unless we’ve gone back to measure how much the 2.5 feet would have made to Dawson and Childress, the differentiation is meaningless.

I don’t remember Childress taking many deep threes. Dawson took some but not as deep as Monsanto. He’s the only player we’ve had with modern NBA range. And he has NBA size.

Have had the pleasure to play with Craig and about five years ago, he could still stroke it from deep. Damari has more range, though which is ridiculous because CD was an assassin. Got to give the edge to Damari…

Monsanto has “done it in away games” and he has not “forced it” from deep, ever.

Last year in ACC play he was 29-71 from 3 on the road (41%) and 23-52 from 3 at home (44%). Those are elite shooting percentages for a volume shooter.
1 foot. It went from -9’9 to 20’9

I know he is a confident fellow and not afraid to fire way behind the line but he doesn’t need to force it as much this year as much better talent around him all over the court which should allow for better, more open shots and better % shots for him as well as his teammates. scary how good this team can be as he adjusts to the talent around him.
Part of Forbes greatness is that he allows his players to cook.

When Damari is cookin so are the deacs. You can’t reign in the swag, you have to embrace it.

Yes, Monsanto’s percentage today was troublesome. If he is on the court, it isn’t a bad shot.

Seriously, his miss in the corner came after he had asked to come out. I think the only reason he missed was that he was a bit gassed. Despite that, when he got the ball he still thought, “fuck it. If I’m in, I’m shooting”. If he isn’t winded, he doesn’t miss again this year. As soon as he gets off the bus, he is in range.

I’d super happy to see Monsanto on the floor, it’s really impressive after both of the injuries he has had over the last three years. I also tore my Achilles (and ACL) and my sports days were over…he is a marvel! I am rooting for him like you can’t believe!!!

He looked a little slow, understandably, but he made shots from fucking half court! God speed young man!

Could you imagine his career numbers if he’d stayed in the SoCon? With that size?

Not cool.
Why not? It is a legitimate question as a sports fan, not some sort of weird-ass jinx. I ask the same question about LaMelo Ball, Gordon Hayward, and Jaycee Horn. There are certain guys who can't stay healthy, for whatever reason. It isn't disrespectful to discuss that reality and how best to maximize their play when they are available. But keep on with some Ron Wellman bury your head in the sand type shit.

Was that the double OT loss at Clemson? I recollect that might have been our best comeback ever if we had finished it off.
This is who I would offer up. He shares the ACC record for most 3s in a game and did it on the road.
