It’s perfectly consistent and logical for the US
& Britain to respond to the Houthis for blockading Israel, because they are allies with Israel and support their war on Gaza. What’s bullshit is suppressing the stated motivations of the Houthis, as allies with Palestine, and portraying this blockade as terrorists just creating random chaos and causing inflation in America. It’s immediately obvious that America is trying to tie support for attacking Houthis to ”global trade” ie - reactionary Americans angry about inflation.

God knows if we put those folks in charge of peacekeeping we'd have a much better brand of propaganda where they don't mention cutting our heads off.

Abbott is willing to play a game of chicken with the federal government.
 
Moving the argument forward a little - approving of the US, as a proxy of Israel, attacking Yemen and Lebanon, is the approval of the US joining a war against allied middle eastern forces spread over multiple countries. If we didn’t attack Russia, as an ally of Ukraine, then how does this make any more sense? Are we really the bully’s henchmen that’s going to hold back all of Palestine’s friends while they get genocided?
 
My initial reaction that this will not end well for Abbott.
But then again Biden has let Netanyahu shit all over him. Does he have the balls to take on Abbott?

As a textual originalist i’m just failing to see how the constitution guarantees states the right to put up a razorwire fence. Abbott is nothing if not specific. There’s nothing about razor-wire anywhere in there.

I'm not sure if this is the fight Biden wants to pick during an election year. Having an actual standoff on the border while Trump hammers the issue doesn't feel like a good thing.

Legally, the supremacy clause should apply here, but does he really want this to escalate?
 
Yeah definitely seems like bait, and if he does something and trump wins it will be the precedent and whatabout used to unleash federal shit all the time.

That second tweet is something else. It took him all of 90 seconds to go froom Trump's biggest supporter in NH to "I guess this is how they treat loyalty in Trump world."
