WF Baseball Off-season Thread

11 days until Wake Forest Baseball

11: The number of wins for Josh Hartle in 2023, only allowing 32 earned runs in over 100 innings pitched.

11: The total number of Deacons ever selected in the first round of the MLB Draft. 5 more are projected to join this club in 2024.

OK GUYS important decision we need to make, overall @Pilchard gets to choose.

how do we handle game threads for the season:

Option A: One thread for the entire year
Option B: One thread per week (weekend series + weekday games) + one season-long thread
Option C: One thread per weekend series + one ongoing thread for all mid-week games + one season-long thread
Option D: One thread per opponent + one season-long thread
Option E: One thread per game
Option F: Something else

I like Option C personally

I don't mind (A.)

Second choice would probably be (D.)

This thread has always had more of a CT feel, which I enjoy. ETA: I'll enjoy posting & following along with you people, regardless.

....

BTW, 9 days until WF Baseball.

9: The number of post-season wins for Wake in '23, leading the Deacs to Omaha. The Deacs outscored opponents 48-7 in the NCAA regionals & crushed Alabama by a margin of 27-9 in the Super Regional.

Last year we did A and it worked just fine, so I say stick with that.

Even though there's a lot of hype around Wake baseball, there's going to be less activity in these game threads than basketball/football. I certainly don't think we need a new thread every few days.

one thread really sucks for anyone who isn't following along daily. the megathreads on this message board are what has contributed to the lack of new posters, imo.

with the number of games we have, i think a single baseball thread wouldn't be dissimilar to having a single one for basketball or football in terms of total posts. it would almost undoubtedly be the biggest thread in the history of these boards, which i think is not a good thing.

it's probably my least favorite option

C is three unique active threads at a time, which seems like a lot to me
sure but it kind of mirrors what we do for football/basketball

the mid week thread and series threads would just be about the games. then season long thread to talk about the team and season in general

It's really only two, since the midweek and weekend threads wouldn't ever be simultaneously active.

I even volunteer to take the mantle from Pilchard to post weekend series threads
