Official Kyle Filipowski assaulted a wake fan thread.

Lol Scheyer would be saying that he was unsure about practice even if Flip was 100% fine. If there was a real chance that he was too injured to practice, Scheyer would still be talking as though he was worried Flip was going to die.

He’s fine. He bruised (maybe) his knee after extending it to trip a fan.

Booooohooooo

Duke is fighting for their seeding in the NCAAT, and Ryan Young is far too unathletic to play 40 minutes of basketball without fouling out and/or hurting himself

I can pretty much guarantee that Flip plays on Wednesday

Counterpoint, they play Louisville.

I mean, what do you want me to say here?

I like covering Duke and I like covering Wake; I'm doing both so that I can maintain some semblance of a career. I've got great relationships with staffs and admin at both places; I'm not going to say anything to jeopardize that and hopefully that's understood.

When I'm done with this current state, I'll be more than happy to share my feelings on a whole lot of things and this can be tacked onto the list.
I think he was simply asking due to your Duke connection, is there any word on an injury report. Not that you should jeopardize your job or relationships.

Nah, he knew what I was asking. It was pretty obvious no imaging was done because it would happen immediately after the game and/or his leg would be stabilized and non weight bearing with any suspected injury. It was likely obvious he wasn’t really hurt as soon as Scheyer left the podium. No one reported on it though because it didn’t fit the narrative or the day. Sure he was hurting, he bumped knees.

I’m sure @CONeill deals with questions of his toughness regularly from within and without the duke fanbase. I respect he’s in a tough spot with his career. Just tough to have your HC’s big speech about how tough you are and how you have that dog in you when you’re carried off the court in tears because you bumped knees with 160 pounds of Evan the Econ major.

I don't imagine many 7 footers knees feel great the day after physical games. Regardless if they commited an assault also.

You had the Caitlin Clark incident, which was about as high visibility as you can get. And then you had ours, which was also pretty high visibility.

Look, I completely realize this Wake board is completely pro-Wake and doesn't want to admit any wrongdoing here. But this wasn't a great circumstance for Wake. And I've talked to two other Wake friends in real life who also immediately said the students were on the court too fast.

Eight more seconds is the difference between this being a non-issue and the story we have today.
What? Am I wrong that most agree (virtually everyone) that security should have done a better job delaying the court rush to allow Duke a bit more time to get off the court? Is anyone arguing against "the students were on the court too fast"? I think we are taking issue with Flip Flop playing the victim when he was the only player who didn't make an effort to get off the court quickly and he then initiated contact with the student. I think you give the players some leeway here but they are also still responsible for their own actions, even if things happened as they did. He took out his frustration on a student and injured himself in the process. Everyone knew the court would be stormed. It should not have been stormed without more delay and he ALSO should have done a better job getting off and avoiding the students.
Security needed to do better and Flip Flop needed to do better. If he uses even a modicum of urgency to get off the court and has even minimal awareness of his surroundings with associated minimal effort to avoid collision, none of the outrage happens. Hopefully, our folks still recognize the lapse in letting a few students on too early and quietly make adjustment, reinforce that plan.

Grayson Allen was a piece of shit dirty player. And fuck all those announcers who repeatedly covered for him in those clips.

Yeah, somehow Grayson Allen got "tangled up" with opposing players every game.

A white Duke player is always going to get the benefit of the doubt. It's just what they do.
