2023-2024 NCAA Men's Basketball Thread

HPU clinched the Big South regular season Championship by beating Winthrop 100-96. This may be the ugliest 100 pt game I have ever seen. The officials loved them some fouls and reviews.

Time to win the tournament.

Where's that guy who goes to the High Point basketball games? I went today and it was an absurd game. Refs were terrible, way too many fouls and techs given out. It went to one OT period, but the two teams combined to shoot 86 free throws. 50 for Winthrop and 36 for HPU. Winthrop should have one, had they not gone 30-50 from the FT line.

What's the record for FTs?

I remain convinced that the first big bodied paint team that Duke faces in the tournament is going to decimate them. These little pushover games like Louisville are nothing but a false façade of a team that is not complete and will not go far.

That really depends on who they have starting at the 6, 7, and 8 for that game.

Gamecocks with 6 road SEC wins including UT, A&M, Ole Miss amongst them. Lamont Paris doing really good things in Columbia in year 2.
He's gotten a lot out of that team. They're not the most talented and they can have a low floor, see blowout losses at Bama and Auburn, but they've busted through the ceiling most predicted before the season.

Not saying Paris is a wizard (yet) by any means but does little things that make a big difference come end game such as throwing a 1-3-1 at you for a few possessions to slow or confuse the opponent. A few empty trips are big come the end of the game. Wish Forbes changed it up more often.

Truly wild that this dude was one of Wake's most hyped prospects in the last decade. Can't even put up above average offensive numbers coming off the bench for Furman in his 4th year in college!

No hate to him, I'm glad he's found a place where he can play real minutes on a decent team in a good conference.

Watched the 2nd half of the Furman/WCU game. Furman led for most of the game, and Whitt TOs helped fuel a massive Catamount run that led to the WCU win. Whitt was benched for the final minutes. He's just another guy in the SOCON. There were at least dozen players in that game with a higher upside than Carter Whitt.

His game is so limited, crazy that he was rated as a high prospect coming out of HS. He has cut his hair.

I attended the Furman vs UNCG game last month. Whitt scored 23 points but went 5-20 shooting, 1-9 from 3 and 12-13 from the line.

McCray has seemingly found a nice fit at Jacksonville.

He's only shooting 30.7% from 3 (35-114), but 57.4% from 2 (124-216).

And he'll still have 2 years left. Could definitely see him playing another year at Jacksonville before doing the grad transfer thing at a P6 program.
