Long Time Buzz In Calls It Quits. Hire Chill or Battle as Interim Coach

Laugh if you will, but I'm still in the Bzz wait and see camp. I will join the rest of you guys if significant improvement is not made next year. I want to see how well the 6 recruits fare at this level. Sometimes it's darkest before the dawn.;)

Can you please define significant improvement?

Win most of the non-conf. games, go 500 in conf. play, be competitive in all games, win an ACC tourney game, be in top half of conf. Basically I think it will be pretty obvious early on what kind of recruits we have and whether nor not they are or will be ACC level players.:)

Does anyone know how the ACC schedule is supposed to shake out next year? I have no idea with it being 18 games, plus we may or may not have Pitt and Syracuse. Under the old scheduling we would play NCSU, GT, Miami, Virginia, and FSU twice (which I think would turn out being a fairly easy schedule, NCSU excepted).

What have you seen from [Redacted] that indicates that he'll be able to develop those recruits, be able to mold them into a team, and be able to implement a system that maximizes their abilities on offense and defense?

With [Redacted] as coach, next year's team may win a few more games b/c the overall talent level is higher & b/c we'll have more depth, but I haven't seen anything from [Redacted] to indicate he'll ever have a team here that doesn't underachieve...

I would love for Chill to be named interim coach and see the team respond and go on a tear in the ACC tournament and Chill becomes the head coach and proves all the doubters wrong. Just a dream though. I know it won't happen. I don't think we'd be this bad with Chill as head coach. But it'll never happen so the doubters can keep saying what a disaster it would be to put someone with no coaching experience in charge.

Oh I see, so you just make up some retarded boyhood fantasy, post it on a message board, and then call everyone "doubters" because the idea is so utterly ludicrous that there's no way it would ever actually happen and, accordingly, no one will ever see how much of a trainwreck it would be.

Cool. Can I play too? I'd love for us to just play walk-ons from here on out. This is [Redacted]'s chance to really take a stand and do something ambitious, defiant, and groundbreaking. Our five pasty, slight-of-build gladiators would be so inspired and taken by the opportunity that they'd transform themselves into superhuman basketball players who can jump over mid-size SUVs and shit gold bricks. We'd take the league by storm, winning our remaining games by 30+, and securing the automatic bid to the tournament after beating Duke 97-48 in the ACC final. Of course, it probably won't happen so you "doubters" can just keep being negative and fussy all the time.

I think it is obvious that while Bzzz may have knowledge of the game, he simply is not a leader of men. These guys don't play hard for him and he is left wondering why. I'd say it is because he is a horrible motivator and cannot connect with his team. The incident where he torpedoed both PGs speaks volumes.

I was also thinking..."so how does such a horrible leader succeed at Air Force?" Well, those kids are disciplined by nature. They are taught to follow their leaders. Without kids that will blindly follow, Bzzz is lost and it is evident in his success at every other job except AF.

If Chill took this mess over, we'd end up hating him when he failed miserably. I'd rather leave him on his pedestal where he belongs, and keep him the hell away from our head coaching spot.

When our illustrious current coach joins him that far away from our HC spot, I do think we need to make a clean break and bring in a whole new staff lest we perpetuate the cycle we're in.

with much respect for these recruits, it is very very unlikely you will see that happen in the ACC with a bunch of freshman. They aint the fab five

He succeeded at Air Force because he inherited a talented, veteran team. Nothing more, nothing less.

Plus it was an experienced team that was used to running that system.

I do think it is important to ask why no team seems to respect the instruction of their fearless leader except AF. Perhaps they were simply veterans and wouldn't allow any dumbass coach to ruin their last year or 2 in college.

I am appalled by the lack of effort put forth for Bzzz and I think it is telling. No matter what the talent level he brings, I think we are going to fail because he won't be able to properly motivate them.

So do I. But we've wasted two years of talent already. You seem willing to waste the (apparently) good recruiting class that we have coming in. Allowing Buzz to destoy the confidence of, or run off more promising basketball talent is not just unconscionable, it's STUPID!

FIFY! It's what you meant anyway, but I felt the need to clarify for the few remaining BuzzInners on the board.

Exactly.

the sad part is, Bz's "success" at AF was the norm and expected for WF over the past decade

Eh, really? We've won one NCAA game in my entire time as a Wake Forest fan. I'm not sure what the "norm" for us really is.
