Miami Fan Encounter with Bz - W-S Journal Article

This board is partially based on that culture.

How many posters here tell other posters the same thing over much less?

The irony of this thread is amusing.

How many posters here are being paid over $80,000 A MONTH to coach a basketball team and be a public representative of Wake Forest University? No one here was hired to improve the culture of this board by their boss. Does context mean anything to you?

You're understanding of irony ranks right up there with Alanis Morissette.

Better yet, how many posters make more than $80,000 in a year? :p

Talking back to an unruly or heckling fan isn't that crazy; coaches do it all the time, although they probably should do their best to resist doing so.

Assume this is true, the aspect that would trouble me is telling the fan to go fuck himself. I mean, what kind of a response is that. That's a fan. Heckle him back, say something snappy, make a quip, or just don't say anything. But telling a paying fan within earshot of children, old folks, students, etc. to go fuck himself?

Whatever, it's really not a big deal and I doubt anything will come of it (for better or for worse). But I think Ph sort of hit on for me; could anyone here imagine Grobe or Skip saying "fuck you" to a fan?

I saw Gary Williams flip the Duke students off more than once. Not that Gary was much of a role model...

If true, it's really not that big of a deal, though it definitely makes Bz look like a hypocrite with his constant pontificating on "culture."

Here to answer any questions about the incident.

I have contacted your AD's office and was told to expect a reply from your AD.

Why would I not believe that a douchebag Miami fan would heckle our coach into cursing? The only few people saying this is false weren't even there. Maybe the next poster who wants to dispute this event should provide some reasoning. Here is my reasoning for believing it: Hecklers are pretty common, Bzz is stressed out and probably angry, Bzz has shown no aversion to angry outbursts or cursing

Here are the reasons it likely didn't happen:
*[Redacted] has been a coach for over thirty years without any other incidents.
*he's been in losing situations and it never happened before.
*No one else heard it.

Here's why so many here believe it:

*They want to believe it. It validates their hatred.
*They immediately believe anything and everything negative about [Redacted].
*They give each other cover.

1) You know this how?
2) You know this how?

We don't know this? We just know it's never been caught on tape. This could have happened many times but it's never going to hit mainstream media without video/audio proof.

*he's been in losing situations and it never happened before.

How is this any different than your previous point?

*No one else heard it.

Well, this isn't true. Another poster on Scout came on and also confirmed the whole story. The guy also claims 8 people talked to him about this incident. Do you expect every Miami fan that heard it to rush over to the Wake Forest message boards and post about it?

Webster's needs to cut-and-paste this for its next edition's definition of "Rank Speculation."

1) You know this how?
2) You know this how?
3) You know this how?

Simple

1) He wants to believe it because it being untrue would validate his "everyone hates Bzz" conspiracy theory
2) He immediately disbelieves anything and everything negative about Bzz
3) It gives other BzzInners cover

rj, what reason would this Miami guy have for making this up?

And then having another poster come over and theoretically lie about the whole story, too?

And you really think someone would take the time to contact the Wake AD if he was making it all up?

You have a sad sense of humanity if you think a person would go through all this trouble for...trolling? a laugh?

I don't really care one way or the other about this. But here's why I think it may be true.

1. Bz is thin skinned when it comes to criticizing his coaching (you can pick up on that with interviews and press conferences he's done.)
2. I've seen other college coaches react in a similiar way (Gary Williams flipping the bird)
3. I don't see why a Miami fan would make this up and pursue it to the point he has otherwise.
