I don't hate consulting... maybe the most important aspect of corporate finance is your ability to make fun of consultants and back office operations. I mostly just like busting your balls.
 
nonny, what were your day to day duties in consulting? that's always seemed like such a general term and i've wondered what it actually entailed.
 
I do a lot of consulting-ish tasks in my new job to be honest

I specifically do management consulting and my duties focus specifically on project management. I'll try to give what details I can without going into too much specifics due to security clearance.

I oversee around 30 different projects, and work with the Project Managers of those projects on a monthly rotational basis. I assist in the development of any new projects, and the status reporting and monitoring of the current ones. My role with the current projects is to make sure all projects are properly executing their schedule, managing their earned value, and successfully mitigating or dealing with their risks. As a team, we are also working to enhance their entire Project Management Office to create long-term sustainability. That's pretty much the high level summary of my role.
 
I don't know what kind of consulting Nonny was doing this afternoon but it mostly involved draft beers, watching sports on TV and daggering me 3-2 at pool fuuuu
 
Tax consultants usually either handle projects, or outsource a portion of the work that the tax department usually performs or handles review functions.

This is a list of services another tax consulting firm provides, and we provide most of the same services, in addition to provision and compliance work.

It's defffffinitely dumb but good for some laughs. Also some unexpectedly weird stuff. I've never seen the original though so I can't compare and also probably missed a lot of references to the orig.
