NFL preseason thread

Haha, good. Fuck the Saints.

In other news, Schiano signed paralyzed Eric LeGrand to a contract with Tampa Bay. Schiano was LeGrand's college coach and wanted to help him achieve his dream of making the NFL.

Eric LeGrand's football coach at Rutgers helped him emotionally in the months after his on-field paralysis. Now the coach is symbolically helping him realize his dream of making it to the NFL.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers, now coached by ex-Rutgers coach Greg Schiano, announced Wednesday they've signed the former defensive tackle who was partially paralyzed in a 2010 game to their 90-man off-season roster.

"Meanwhile, Saints running back Mark Ingram tweeted that the suspensions will only prove to motivate New Orleans.

"Don't worry they just makin us hungrier and puttin a bigger chip on or shoulder!! #WHODATNATION will rise above it!! #believedat," he wrote."

What an asshole.

I mean I hate the Saints but that is too harsh.

A year for Vilma? Ridiculous.

Yeah, I mean how dare the players left behind use it for motivation?

These suspensions are freakin' out of control. I get Williams going away for multiple years. But a year for a player with a very finite period of years left in his career is ridiculous.

Junior Seau's death on the same day this news is released is the worst thing that could have happened to the Saints players.

do the saints get salary cap relief for this?

Suspensions are an absolute joke. NFL is worth $9 billion partially because it's a violent sport. The commish is out of control and way out of line with a FUCKING year suspension on a LB who goes out to take a guys head off...what a joke.

So if franchises offer higher contracts to players who a big hitters and take opposing players out, is that a bounty?

I have no problem picking on the Saints, but a year suspension for a player is ridiculous.

Ugh. My man T Sizzle just ruptured his achilles. Done for the year. Good thing Upshaw fell to us. He and Freddie Kruger have some big shoes to fill.

Jonathan Goff signed with Redskins. Not that he helped the Giants in any way last year, but I am still concerned about moving forward with a LB corps of Kiwanuka, Boley, and Keith Rivers with Williams, Jones, and Herzlich as the backups. The LBs were absolutely awful for most of the year last year until they dragged Blackburn in off the street. I imagine he will have to be re-signed at some point this season as well, assuming he doesn't sign somewhere else.

sucks for Suggs and the ravens. T Sizzle is one of my favorite non-Bills players in the league, hope he recovers quickly

Sizzle is saying he's not done for the year and expects to be back midseason - not a full tear but a partial tear - so about 6 months.

Glad to hear other fans like him. Dude is seriously funny. If you get a chance, you should catch him on that miked up episode the NFLN did from this past year's SF/Balmur game.
