2013 FB RECRUITING MEGATHREAD: Stevenson! 1RB,1DL,1K,2WR,5LB,1QB,5OL,3DB,2TE

Why do you think they'd only be spending 2 hours working on academics?

Because 6 hours working on their athletic craft could make them really, really good. I'm basically envisioning a system where they're professional by age 12-13, and the team runs an academy where they can work on their craft while also learning other useful skills.

Then you'd be looking at private academies similar to the tennis academies in FL instead. I'm talking about training for sports/athletics related disciplines and fields, not training to be a pro athlete.

What about this model?

In my analysis Lewinson bears strong physical resemblance to FSU great Ron Simmons. Ron was a 6'1-240 lb. NG and extremely strong guy with equal quickness.

Shelldon is a special prospect. He is exceptionally strong for a kid his age (440 lb bench) and has a lower body to match. He and Tyler Harris are 2 of the most naturally gifted guys the Deacons have gotten on the interior line. Harris is a bull with a barrel chest and an SEC frame. Fast and athletic he should continue his recuperation in 2012 and be ready to join Lewinson and Banks as the three mature in their careers.

Josh Banks has received some of the same commentary once reserved for Aaron Curry. The coaches could not figure out why other name-teams had not been all over him -- basically, Clem., Va Tech, UNC among regionals. The guys definitely feel like they "stole one" in North Carolina.

Future appears pretty bright on the future DL when you mix these guys with emerging talents like Johnny Garcia, G.P. Offor and Desmond Floyd...

Thanks for the info, good to have you back. Can't wait for football.

Nice Ron Simmons reference. He wishes he was 6'1". He was the man that lead that team out of the wilderness in the late 70's, and if Lewinsin is half as good, we'll be fine. If Lewinson is good to go this year, how many DLs should we be going after this recruiting season??

I enjoyed Ron Simmons' work as Farooq.

Lewinson was dominant last year against the #8 ranked team in the nation. They had won about 40 in a row at home and Shelldon had his name called no less than 10 times in the 1st half alone. It was rather amusing to hear the announcer say "again, the play is made by Shelldon Lewinson!" and then, in so
e disbelief, "he will be attending,uh, Wake Forest next fall."

The OL he faced all signed FBS scholarships and they averaged 6'5-290.

He dominated them with speed and bull rushes

Interesting discussion although somewhat of a rehash of the american v. european higher education systems debate. Might be better off on a separate thread than in the football recruiting thread.

+1. Interesting topic that may get buried here.

We need a quality running back or 2 in this class.

So how many more recruits are we looking at here?
