2013 FB RECRUITING MEGATHREAD: Stevenson! 1RB,1DL,1K,2WR,5LB,1QB,5OL,3DB,2TE

Welcome Alex. I figure we have at least 6 more 'ships. Maybe more if some Jrs leave early.

Where do you get 6 more? I count 85 on scholarship with only 11 seniors and we have 10 commits, leaving only one more, plus juniors that leave early.

Kid played in the same conference in HS as Allen Ramsey and comes from a run first offense. Looks like a good pickup for WF. Seems like Wake has been getting a lot of smaller shiftier types or big towering guys the last few years at WR and this guy looks like a nice blend of both worlds. Congrats

I count 11 seniors too, but I don't think that WF is maxed out at 85 right now as Laronji Vason is not enrolling. Also, I think that Grobe keeps a couple ships that he issues to preferred walk-ons on a year-by-year basis, if he does not max out on scholarship recruits: Jason Green, Ben Wufleck, Patrick Thompson, Spencer Bishop. Also, there are a handful of RS juniors that have not played much, aren't expected to play much and may decide to move on after the season: John Gallagher, Frank Souza, Quan Rucker, Brendan Cross. Finally, with 85 on the roster, some other player(s) with eligibility will likely leave due to unforssen circumstances (who would have guessed that Chris Givens would be an early entry into the NFL draft at this time last year?).

I think 16 is as good a guess as any.

Ugh. Seems like we have a lot more than 6 spots to fill. Our 2014 RBs look like Josh Wilhite (rFR), Deandre Martin (rJR), Tyler Jackson (rSR), Orville Reynolds (SR). I think we'll need to bring in 3 RBs over the next two classes. Always a chance the ones we have won't pan out or will leave. Obviously, we need more defense in this class as well, particularly at DL.

I expect we will land somewhere around 15 or 16.

I don't expect (at all!) Frank Souza or Quan Rucker to be moving on.

Frank has been impressive in his brief stint and he and Booi would have been offered by Alabama had they not been determined to make it as DT's. Word has Frank at a beefy 310 -- what Lobotzke calls a "dancing bear" at LT.

Quan went through a series of early career injuries -- nothing major, just enough to keep him out. He is a lot like Kenny Moore with regards ability and how he has matriculated thus far...

Don't sleep on Juniors at Wake Forest...that's why I have been pointing to this season for the last 3 years. We have an assload of ballplayers getting ready to step out into the light!

I'm close to finishing the "Thread of Threads" and lads, let me tell :"The ORACLE has come down from the Mountain with the "Vision" of an ACC Championship in 2012 ... "THIS IS THE YEAR!"

That's been a killer. Those 3 had tons of big time offers and were all highly rated. Now is the time for all 3 of these guys to come on in a big way.

Now is the Time.

We have a number of guys getting ready to break into "Bonafide Star" status...

4 guys on Defense will vie for ALL-AMERICA Honors:

Whitlock (5'9.5 - 267) NT
Olson (6'3-247) ILB
Jackson (6'1.5-227) OLB
Noel. (5'10-185) CB

Those 4 will be variously listed among the top 4 compilation of Postseason All-America squads - It Has Been Seen!

A.J. Marshall will vie for one of the top 3 All Conference squads along with Kevin Johnson @ CB.

We are on the verge of witnessing the best Defense yet compiled under Jim Grobe. Better than any that has come before.

Hold on now.

I do expect big things out of the 6 players you listed. Look for A.J. Marshall to develop an NFL quality resume in the next two seasons now that he has been moved to safety.

Don't forget Hazime is one and done. We lost Mosby and Knott. Chase has used 8 of his 9 lives. My count was 13 (T-Bo, Davis, Booi, Irby,Garrick W, Ellis, Ehrman Betro, Haynes,Okoro, Newman, Lovell, Hazime). The thing I can't figure out is what walk-on got scholarships other than Wulfeck? Is his just for one year? 4safeties are Sr in '13 and there is talk of putting Dom Gibson at RB. The coaches know more than we do or else they would not have stacked up at OL and TE. Maybe the think someone will be taking the F train out of town.

I think Chase is gone already.

Lectro, whats your general impression on this year's offense so far?

Chase got taken back by Coach Grobe and the staff.

^^ Didn't realize that..............when? good news for the Oline.

What's the story with Hazime? I've heard lots of stories/rumors but nothing 'official'

Chase came back after spring ball. Hazime has enrolled as a grad student. He was the 36th overall selection in the CFL draft by the Edmonton Eskimos, the same team that took James Parker.

Wow, Chase being available at LT gives me a much different outlook for the upcoming season...

I've heard Hazime is definitive and will be here to back up Nikita/provide dline help

Hazime was coming on as a Sophomore then hurt his knee...as with most recoveries his JR season was one of readjustment. It typically takes 18 months for the athlete to physically and psychologically recover. Looking for real contribution from this guy - 6'4-278 Sr/ experience...let's hope he picks up where he left off pre-injury.

As for the 4 I mentioned there is no "holding on" -- Olson and Jackson will wind up being as good as Curry-Arnoux...the bonus is that the present team has another budding star in Zachary Allen and 2 more potential studs in Chubb and Hunt. For 2012 you also have the luxury of Sr.'s Betros, Haynes and Ehrmann...that's a lot of "real" heated competition for spots. Jim may complain about "depth" but he has a ton more than previous squads.

Whitlock is rated by Steele as the #8 DT in the land...he will continue to defy the odds as he moves further up that list. He IS the Heart and Soul of this team and he is the perfect representative of the smallest school in major college football.

Merril is everything Phonz was...hopefully Phonz is in his ear about his own struggles as a sophomore. Merril simply needs to play within the scheme and he will continue to impress.
